Artelac is used for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye conditions and for lubricating hard contact lenses. The active substance is hypromellose, a cellulose derivative. The drug is in the form of eye drops and is available without a prescription.

Artelac – indications and dosage
Artelac is used in the symptomatic treatment of dry eye conditions and as a lubricant for hard contact lenses.
Dosage
- Individually, usually 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3-5 × / d.
Artelac and contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation is a contraindication to the use of Artelac.
Artelac – warnings
- If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor.
- In the event of an allergic reaction, Artelac should be discontinued.
- When using other ophthalmic drugs, the drug should always be administered last, at least 15 minutes after the other drug was administered.
- Consult your doctor before using Artelac drops while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Transient visual acuity disturbance may occur after the use of the preparation; you should not drive until the disturbance is resolved.
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking the preparation.
- Hypromellose is not absorbed into the systemic circulation. Artelac can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Artelac – interactions
There are no known interactions of Artelac with other drugs.
Artelac – side effects
During the use of Artelac, hypersensitivity reactions, transient visual acuity disturbances, eye irritation (sensation of the presence of a foreign body, burning), damage to the corneal epithelium (especially after long-term use, due to the presence of preservatives in the preparation) may occur.
