The pace of our lives today is fast-paced. Even if we take the time to stop and listen to ourselves, sometimes we lack the skills to figure it out and understand: what is happening to me right now? Art therapy classes help us to touch our essence, to hear our deepest intentions.
Almost all of us, the inhabitants of a big city, suffer from isolation — from each other and from ourselves: from our emotions, body, creativity. Art therapy helps to restore contact with oneself, strengthens and activates the process of a person’s search for his natural way of understanding himself and solving his problems.
natural ability
Arts therapy works with the innate ability to be creative and playful. When we were little, we spent time playing with stories, songs, colors, using our hands, our bodies, our voice. It was natural. With age, most of us lose, forget this way of relieving tension and contact with our creative «I». But we can remember it and awaken in ourselves again the childish ability to play. For adults, creative play is a way to relax and express themselves, and at the same time a deep, but fun way to solve their problems. We do not painfully “dig into ourselves”, but play, laugh a lot, create, reviving ourselves and each other, filling and expressing life with color, lines, sounds, movement.

Change through image
Art therapy and art therapy uses the language of images, gestures, movements. You can talk about your life or relationships in words — or you can draw a picture of your life and relationships, and it will reflect our contradictions, doubts, resources, hidden pain. Those feelings that remained unconscious, immobile inside us are expressed in a drawing — and become visible and come to life. We have a desire to change something in this drawing — a color or a line, and sometimes draw something new. And thus, by changing the drawing, we simultaneously change our life. Many people have a fear of creating, a fear of doing something wrong: what if others condemn? Inside, the voices of internal critics, old grievances and complexes are heard. The atmosphere of the art therapy group is very welcoming, you don’t have to be an artist or a poet to participate in these classes. You can just hear yourself and create, this is not learning to draw — these are pictures born of our life, they are usually very sincere and telling, because even in one line there can be a whole story. And what fun you can get just playing and mixing colors or watching how the pastel leaves a mark on paper!
