The process of preparing the tincture is quite simple, but it takes time for the berries to fully saturate the drink with taste, aroma and beneficial properties.
Almost any alcohol can be used for tincture: food alcohol, vodka, moonshine and inexpensive cognac. Also, if desired, you can add your favorite herbs and spices (cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon).

Classic chokeberry tincture
Berries can be reused in this recipe. The drink of the second infusion will turn out to be softer, but no less tasty and rich.
Ingredients
Chokeberry – 1 kg
Vodka – 1 l
Sugar – 300-500 grams
Method of preparation
The berries must be sorted out, rinsed well and slightly dried with paper towels.
Pour mountain ash into a glass container of a suitable size and pour the alcohol base 1 cm above the berries. If desired, you can add granulated sugar about 300-500 grams. We insist tincture for 2 months in a dark, cool room.
After 2 months, the finished tincture must be filtered and bottled.
Before tasting, it is advisable to give the drink a little “rest” for about 3-4 days.
Chokeberry tincture with citrus aroma
Ingredients
Black rowan – on the shoulders of 3 liters
Food alcohol (40-50%) – 500 ml
Lemon (large) – 3 pc.
Granulated sugar – 200 g
Water – 200 ml
Method of preparation
The berries must be sorted out, rinsed well and slightly dried with paper towels.
Then we put them in a 3-liter jar up to the shoulders.
Now add water, granulated sugar, lemon juice (from 3 lemons) and fill in the alcohol component. We insist for three weeks in a dark, cool place, and in order for the sugar to completely dissolve, the jar must be shaken periodically.
After insisting, the finished drink is filtered twice through a fine strainer and then poured into glass bottles.
Before tasting, leave the tincture in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks to stabilize the taste.
A simple recipe for chokeberry tincture
Ingredients
Fresh chokeberry – 1 kg
Vodka – 1 l
Sugars – 500 g
Cloves – 3 buds
Method of preparation
We put the selected and clean berry into a jar and knead it into a pulp with a wooden spoon.
Then you need to add sugar and cloves. After mixing thoroughly, cover the neck of the jar with gauze and leave it for 2 days at room temperature.
After that, pour in the alcohol base and insist the drink for 2 months in a dark, cool place.
After 2 months, we filter the finished tincture through a strainer, and then pass it through a purchased or home-made filter.
Pour the tincture into bottles and store it in a cool place without exposure to daylight.
Fragrant tincture of chokeberry on cognac
Ingredients
Black rowan – 2,5 cups
Cognac – 1 l
Honey – 3 Art. l
Oak bark – 1 pinch
Method of preparation
Pour the prepared berries into a glass container, add liquid honey and oak bark.
Then pour one liter of cognac and insist for 4-5 months in a dark, cool room. At the same time, do not forget to shake the container once a week, and in the last month we leave the tincture alone so that the sediment has time to completely settle to the bottom.
After 4-5 months, the finished drink must be carefully drained from the sediment, and then passed through a purchased or home-made filter.
We bottle the chokeberry tincture and leave it for another 2 weeks in a cool place so that it “rests”.
Tincture of red and chokeberry
Ingredients
Chokeberry – 1 cup
Red rowan – 1 cup
Honey – 2-3 tbsp.
Vodka – 500 ml
Method of preparation
Berries of both types of mountain ash, together with tails, put in a jar, pour vodka, add honey, close tightly and leave for 15 days in a dark place.
Then strain, filter and bottle.
Blackberry tincture with cherry flavor
Ingredients
Aronia berries – 1 cup
Cherry leaves – 100 pcs.
Sugar – 1/3 cup
Water – 1,5 L
Vodka – 700 ml
Method of preparation
It is advisable to use cherry leaves fresh, but you can prepare them in the summer and then freeze them. In extreme cases, young cherry twigs can be used instead of leaves.
Rinse chokeberries and cherry leaves, dry, put in a saucepan, add water, bring to a boil and boil for 15 minutes, then strain, add sugar and stir until it dissolves.
After that, pour in vodka, pour into bottles, cork and refrigerate. You can drink after a few days.
Alternative blackberry recipe with cherry flavor
Ingredients
Aronia berries – 1 cup
Cherry leaves – 1 cup
Sugars – 500 g
Citric acid – 1 tbsp. l.
Water – 1,5 L
Vodka – 1,5 l
Method of preparation
Berries and cherry leaves as described in this recipe, put in a saucepan, add water, bring to a boil, then add sugar and cook for 45 minutes.
After that, add citric acid, and after 1-2 minutes, remove from heat and let cool.
Strain the broth, pour in vodka, filter, bottle and cork.
Let it brew for at least 15 days. The drink is ready.
