Mountain arnica is a plant known for its healing properties. It has long been used by herbalists and pharmacists. It grows in the European and North American mountains. There are 30 varieties of arnica, of which only one occurs in Poland, and due to the fact that there are less and less of it, it is under protection. The flowering period of arnica falls on the turn of June and July. During this time, the flowers should be harvested, the rhizomes should be harvested in September and October, and the leaves – in June and July.

Arnica – properties, indications, contraindications

Arnica contains many valuable ingredients. Its flowers contain, among others, essential oils, flavonoids, phytosterols, carotenoids, arnica, saponin and many others. The rhizomes contain tannins, resins and essential oils. Arnica preparations are usually used externally as an auxiliary treatment for:

  1. injuries,
  2. bruises,
  3. bruises,
  4. varicose leg ulcers,
  5. swelling and puffiness,

It is a safe preparation, so it can be used in children. It soothes pain, reduces swelling, and can also improve the condition and color of skin with vascular problems.
