The machine was spinning the wash, but stopped at the spin cycle? Or did she finish the job, but the laundry is wet at the exit? Why washing machineAriston» does not wring out things? It may be a banal user error, but serious damage is not ruled out. To get your machine back up and running, check out the root causes of problems.
Why does the spin cycle not work in the Ariston washing machine?
Did you buy a washing machine, but got a semi-automatic? Of course, I do not want to waste time and effort on manual spinning. Therefore, it remains to find and fix the problem. The following are symptoms that directly indicate the cause of the problem:
- The machine stopped with a full tank of water. The program cycle has ended but the spin cycle does not start. The reason may be a kink in the drain hose or clogged communications.
- No spin mode selected on the control panel. When washing delicate, silk, woolen fabrics, you could disable the option. Check and enable.
- The drum is spinning, but the machine does not spin the laundry well. Spin speed set to low. The program needs to be adjusted.
Modern technology is equipped with a weighing function. Therefore, if the drum is not optimally loaded with laundry, the spin cycle will not run 100%. In addition to the carelessness of the user, there are breakdowns of electronics and mechanical elements. If SMA “Ariston” has stopped squeezing things, the reasons may be as follows:
- the drain pump broke;
- faulty water level sensor;
- the tachogenerator does not work correctly;
- engine malfunction;
- The electronic module has failed.
How to restore the machine? There are two options: seek help from the master or try to cope with the problem on your own.
There is no spin in the Ariston washing machine: what to do?
Start by setting up the right program. Open the operating instructions and read again which functions include spinning and which do not. Adjust the revs. To correct the imbalance and check the drain system, drain the water from the tank. How to do it:
- Unplug the machine.
- Remove the plinth panel under the loading door.
- Unscrew the filter plug. Don’t forget to put a water tank in.
Now open the door, distribute or add things. Try to run the wash again. Prepare a basin or bucket to clean the drain. Now do this:
- Disconnect the drain hose from the CMA body and direct it into a container.
- Rinse the element with a stream of water from debris and reinstall.
The blockage can also be in the sewer. To solve the problem, you can use special tools or call a plumber. If the recommendations did not help solve the problem, then move on.
Pump test
When the machine does not drain the water, the reason may be not only a blockage, but also a pump breakdown. The spin mode starts only after the water after washing goes into the sewer.
The washer pump is located under the bottom, so checking will not cause difficulties. Follow instructions:
- Disconnect the equipment from the network and communications.
- Remove the detergent drawer.
- After draining the water, turn the CMA on its side.
- Unscrew the screws and remove the bottom (if it is provided in your model).
- Disconnect the pump wiring, unscrew the screws of the snail (pump housing).
- Loosen the clamps, disconnect the drain hose and pipe.
- Remove the pump from the housing.
Inspect the element for blockage. It is possible that threads and hair were wound around the impeller, which blocked the operation of the assembly. Then it is enough to remove the dirt and assemble the car. Another issue is the combustion of the electrical winding. Here you will need a complete pump replacement.
Inspection and replacement of the pressure switch
If the spin does not turn on in the Hotpoint Ariston washing machine, the problem may be in the water control sensor – the pressure switch (level sensor). During normal operation, the device sends a signal to the module about the level of water in the drum. After that, the controller gives a command to drain the water and start the spin cycle.
To check the pressure switch for serviceability, start with a little disassembly:
- Remove the top case cover by unscrewing the screws at the back.
- Find a round object with tubes near the side wall. This is the pressure switch.
- Disconnect wires and tubes from the part and unscrew the fixing screw.
Inspect the contacts of the pressure switch at the time of oxidation. Rinse the element with water to remove contaminants. Now start checking:
- Connect a tube to the sensor and blow into it.
- If clicks are heard at the same time, the device is working. If not, a replacement is required.
Choose a sensor specifically for the Ariston washing machine and install in the reverse order.
Motor and tachometer replacement
The motor drives a belt that turns the tank pulley. The motor does not work – the drum does not rotate. Everything is simple.
What function does tachometer (Hall Sensor)? It is located on the motor shaft and controls the number of revolutions by sending messages to the module. Therefore, when the machine does not spin, these components are checked first.
How to repair:
- Expand the body of the equipment to remove the back wall.
- To do this, disconnect the hoses and unscrew the bolts.
- Remove the drive belt.
- Disconnect the motor wiring, unscrew the mounting bolts, remove the motor from the housing.
Inspect the Hall sensor immediately. Fix the part in the socket and reconnect the contacts. With frequent overload of the drum and strong vibrations, the contacts could loosen, which led to a stoppage of work. In the event of a breakdown, the tachometer is replaced.
Also check the motor brushes, which are located on the sides of the housing. This is one of the most common causes of breakdowns. If the graphite brushes are even half worn, install new parts.
Watch the video on how to connect and check the washing machine motor:
What else could break in the motor:
- The lamellas are damaged. They are attached to the motor shaft with glue, so they peel off when overheated. You can fix the problem using a lathe by turning the manifolds.
- Shorted the stator and rotor wiring. Burning and closing the windings is a serious matter and requires the replacement of the motor. Trying to change the windings is unprofitable. Use a multimeter to diagnose. Attach the probes to the lamellas and measure the resistance. Indicators are normally from 20 to 200 ohms.
Inspection of the main module
Machine stuck on spin? In this case, the error code F18 may appear on the display. This indicates the need to re-flash the board. Only a master can handle such repairs. In some cases, it is more profitable to buy a new module than to repair the old one. Therefore, it is worth focusing on the results of diagnostics.
Remember! If the washer is still under warranty, do not open the case and try to figure it out on your own. Contact the support center, otherwise you will lose the warranty.
Keep track of the technology. Usually, before the final breakdown, the machine warns the user with a knock, hum, poorly wrung out laundry. These are the first bells, and a timely response to them will save the family budget.
