This element with unique properties will work as a medicine for many problematic ailments. It makes the skin look healthier, nails and hair become stronger, and has anti-inflammatory and regenerating properties. No wonder that sulfur has been used in both medicine and cosmetics.
Sulfur has many important functions in the body. Among the mineral elements, it ranks fourth in the hierarchy of macronutrients that are necessary for life. It takes part in the processes taking place in the nervous system, brain and blood, and is also the basic component of the skin protein, hair and nails, and collagen responsible for maintaining the youthful appearance of the skin.
The best sources of it are high-protein products, i.e. milk, eggs, meat and offal. We can also find it in fruits and vegetables: onions, garlic, horseradish, radishes, cress, artichokes, peas, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, radishes, turnips, apricots, strawberries and avocados.
Sulfur for special tasks. When to use it?
- With a sick liver it is good to take sulfur with treatments aimed at detoxifying the liver. It helps in removing toxins, increases the secretion of bile acids, supports the excretion of nicotine and heavy metals from the body. It will also work with systemic mycosis.
- With joint problems – in Poland we will find rich sulfur springs where treatment with sulphide waters is used. It is recommended mainly for people suffering from joint problems and struggling with rheumatism. This substance has an anti-inflammatory effect, restores joint elasticity and facilitates the regeneration of cartilage. Sulphide baths are an excellent help in numerous degenerative and rheumatic diseases: in the case of sciatica, spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, shoulder pain, injuries of the musculoskeletal system, such as sprains or orthopedic surgeries.
- For beautiful hair, skin and nails – this element is the basic building component of the skin, nails and hair, which is why their condition depends on it – whether the hair will be shiny and thick, and the nails strong. Sulfur is also an ingredient in many cosmetic products. It is even referred to as the “element of beauty” because it can do a lot of good for our beauty. It is found in shampoos designed to fight dandruff, oily hair and skin prone to irritation. It regenerates the epidermis, which slows down the aging process of the body, and is also useful in the treatment of skin diseases: eczema, scleroderma, acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, as well as in bacterial, fungal and parasitic skin infections. For this purpose, therapeutic baths are used, during which sulfur softens, exfoliates the epidermis and makes the body soft and firm.
