During the holidays at the Polish seaside, it is worth leaving the beach for a while, entering the “Rakoobrona” tent and checking your moles. The tests will be carried out on the Gdynia Śródmieście beach between 11 am and 16 pm. The campaign will last until August 20.
In Poland, 2,5 thousand people are affected by melanoma every year. Half of them die. It has been known for a long time that solar radiation can be deadly for humans. Dermatologists emphasize that prolonged exposure to the sun can be more dangerous than cigarette smoke.
Melanoma is the most malignant one among skin cancers. Although it can be seen with the naked eye, it is too often underestimated.
In Poland, two and a half thousand people are diagnosed with melanoma each year, half of whom die. This is twenty percent more than the European average. The data is alarming.
When new, growing, itchy or bleeding lesions appear on the skin, some do not see a doctor with them. Even though the prognosis is very good: melanoma detected early is curable in 90 percent of patients.
As part of the preventive campaign sponsored by the Minister of Health, all disturbing skin changes can be examined free of charge at the beach in Gdynia, as well as learn how to safely sunbathe. It is still not clear to everyone that sunscreen should be used. Adults have a special responsibility. Not only for myself, but also for the children. It is worth remembering that a burn in early childhood, especially in children over three years of age, significantly increases the likelihood of skin cancer developing in adulthood.
