Autumn is not a favorable season for allergy sufferers, although it might seem that allergy sufferers can breathe a sigh of relief right now. By the end of summer, problems with pollinating grasses or blooming flowers should end. However, nothing could be more wrong! Autumn is also a bad time for allergy sufferers. But why? About it below!
Symptoms of fall allergies
- Feeling unwell, frequent colds, symptoms of other flu-like illnesses
- Cough, especially the occurrence of dry cough
- Allergic runny nose and rhinitis
Allergy in the fall. Why?
Allergy symptoms can be exacerbated in autumn due to the way we live. It’s getting colder outside, but it’s getting warmer inside the houses – the heating season begins. There are also infections and viruses waiting for us at every step, which lower the body’s immunity, which begins to fight the war of allergies with it.
Often in the autumn there is an exacerbation of asthma symptoms, especially in children and people working in large groups, where it is easier to get sick.
Autumn allergies are those whose symptoms appear at home
Allergy during the fall manifests itself primarily at home. Then we have more contact with mites living in houses and rooms, but also with mold. First of all, this is why allergic symptoms intensify during autumn.
Autumn allergies are also associated with shedding of dogs and cats. Spending more time in homes and apartments, we have more contact with animal hair, which can also cause allergy symptoms.
Exacerbation of allergy symptoms
- Pet owners are most at risk of exacerbating allergy symptoms in autumn;
- People allergic to airborne allergens, e.g. to house dust mites, also encounter autumn allergies more often;
- People suffering from asthma or those with a family history of asthma will also have a harder time coping in the autumn, because there will always be a risk of getting sick.
Allergy in the fall: house cleaning!
Regular household cleaning can stop the formation and exacerbation of autumn allergies. It is enough to clean the apartment very thoroughly at least once a week. If you have pets, it is worth combing them with special furminators that reduce the shedding of hair by pets. Thanks to this and thanks to the use of appropriate medications and constant control of your health, autumn allergies will no longer be a threat!
