How can scabies be treated? Is it worth using home remedies for scabies? Are such methods safe? Can you get any medications or ointments for scabies at the pharmacy? The question is answered by the drug. Anna Mitschke.
How are scabies treated with home remedies?
Hello. I have a question as to whether they exist home remedies for scabies? I just mean some really effective ways to get rid of scabies. There may be over-the-counter drugs or some kind natural remedies for scabies. Currently, I live abroad and do not really have the opportunity to see a dermatologist quickly, but I am 99% sure that I have scabies. The skin where it appeared is terribly itchy.
So much so that I can’t handle it anymore, which is why I could use some over-the-counter medications for scabies or ointments for scabiesthat I could use at home. I will be in Poland only in a month and then I will definitely see a doctor, but now I have to deal with myself symptoms of scabies. They would really be enough for me home remedies for scabiesthat will ease the itching. The rash itself or the fact that the spot is red don’t bother me too much. Only the itching makes me very tired. If you know any effective home treatments for scabies, I would be grateful for sharing them with me.
The doctor explains if there are any home remedies for scabies
Scabies is a common induced disease the human scabies parasite. Itching in the evening is characteristic of the disease. Warming up the body in a bath or in bedding increases the activity of the parasite. The skin changes are small blisters. They are typically located around the navel, in folds and folds of the skin, on the lateral surface of the fingers, around the nipples, on the wrists, on the buttocks, around the genital area, on the palms and soles of the feet. Usually the changes do not affect the head area. Scratching causes cross-hairs – linear cavities in the skin. Bacterial superinfection can also occur.
Parasites are small so they cannot be seen with the naked eye. The infection occurs as a result of direct contact with an infected person. Parasites can be transferred as a result of contact with objects with which the infected person has come into contact, e.g. bedding, towels, clothes. The state of reduced immunity predisposes to human scabies infections. The parasite spreads easily in large groups of people, such as nursing homes, hospitals. Poor socio-economic conditions also predispose to infection with the parasite.
The drug of choice for treating scabies is permethrin cream. The drug is evenly applied to the body once, after washing for 10-12 hours. After this time, you should wash yourself again. If symptoms persist, the treatment can be repeated after a week. It is important to start treatment with the rest of the household at the same time. In addition, you should wash at high temperature and iron underwear, clothes, bedding, towels. Then put the things in an airtight bag and do not use them for 2-3 weeks. All other things with which the patient has come into contact should also be carefully cleaned and, if possible, not used.
If the symptoms persist, I suggest you go to the GP or a dermatologist. The itch may not be caused by scabies.
