Are the genetic mutations responsible for autism known?

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder with a genetic background.

So far, about 200 genes responsible for autism have been found, but none of them is responsible for all cases of autism. Only 10% of people with autism spectrum disorders can identify genetic causes. In about 90% of cases, the cause of autism is unknown.

About 10% of people diagnosed with autism have a known genetic condition (for example: tuberous sclerosis, Fragile X syndrome, Rett syndrome, Angelman syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, duplication 15q11-q13, deletion 22q13 – Phelan-McDermid syndrome), in the picture who have symptoms characteristic of pervasive developmental disorders.

Genetic factors are believed to be important in the aetiology of autism, but rather a certain genetic predisposition to develop autism that may be triggered by unfavorable environmental factors. Oxidative stress, perinatal hypoxia, infections can reveal or intensify the symptoms of autism.
