Should you be concerned about post-cesarean adhesions? Should you be concerned about scars and adhesions inside the body? How long does the body recover from cesarean? Can adhesions be removed? The question is answered by the drug. Katarzyna Darecka.

Should you be concerned about post-cesarean adhesions?

Hello. I am 32 years old, I gave birth to my second child four months ago, the situation required a quick response from the doctors, so the delivery was performed by caesarean section. The cut wound is almost healed, but in two more places the seam is red and there are lumps, I think they are adhesions. I cannot use a healing ointment that reduces scars because the package says that it can be used when fully healed.

I started to wonder if the adhesions after cesarean are dangerous, these reddened areas, unfortunately, but still hurt me, are sensitive to touch. I am also worried whether the adhesions that I have inside the uterus or under the skin may become discomfort and problems in my daily functioning over time. How long does the body heal after surgery? Can adhesions that cause pain, for example, be removed, if possible, and how is it done?

I am asking for a reliable answer, because I do not know if I should go to the gynecologist for a check-up now.

Your doctor will advise you on what to do in case of a cesarean scar

The symptoms described by you may be partial wound infection after cesarean section. If, in addition to redness, there is also increased heat in the area, pain on touch, swelling in and around the wound. You should contact your doctor or gynecologist about this – he or she will objectively collect an interview and examine cut scar and determine whether or not there is inflammation in the tissue. Depending on the result of the test, he will recommend the appropriate course of action.

Gynecologists call adhesions complication of cesarean sectionwhich takes place inside the abdominal cavity, not on its surface and can only be confirmed during subsequent observation within the abdominal cavity. The effects of adhesions may include: reduced fertility (3%), abdominal pain (6%), intestinal obstruction (after multiple abdominal operations, 0.2%, manifested by no bowel movements, nausea and vomiting), problems with carrying out subsequent operations at this location.

However, do not be afraid, these are relatively rare complications, and you do not actually have a problem with adhesions inside the peritoneum, but difficulties with healing caesarean section scarswhich can be found quickly and remedied just as quickly, so please go to the gynecologist as soon as possible, and everything should be fine.
