For crossing, according to known information, the grape variety Intervitis Magaracha and white-berry Druzhba were chosen.

botanical properties

The vine of the Arched grape variety is vigorous, with good care it reaches three meters. The variety is early ripe, frost-resistant. Grapes are well propagated by cuttings. Having planted a vine, already in the second year you can get the first harvest.

Not every gardener will risk making new plantings without knowing the details about the plant. Therefore, we will present our readers with a description with a photo of Arochny grapes. In this photo, the plant is three years old.

Technical specifications

And now – the characteristic features of the Arochny variety:

  1. Due to the density, the berries can remain on the bushes for a long time, do not lose their taste and aromatic qualities. It is possible to transport cut bunches of grapes over long distances, while the shape is not lost, the berries do not flow.
  2. The vine is frost-resistant, able to withstand – 25 degrees. Even if some of the eyes on the vine freeze in winter, fruiting remains in duplicate buds. That is why the Arochny variety is recommended for cultivation in the northern regions.
  3. Harvest stable from year to year, high.
  4. Vine variety Arochny is resistant to many grape diseases.
  5. The fruits make excellent wine.
Important! Arched is resistant to mildew and oidium, but preventive measures are still necessary.

Peculiarities of growing

Grapes are a heat-loving plant, but more and more often the vine is grown in more severe climatic conditions. And judging by the reviews, it is quite successful. In order for the vineyards not to die, you need to know how to plant them correctly, choose the soil, and take care of them.

Cooking pit

Arched grapes require sandy and sandy loamy soils when planting. The root system of grapes goes to a great depth, so when choosing a place, you need to take into account the height of groundwater to the horizon. The close location of water has a detrimental effect on the development of the vine. The Arochny variety feels good on the sunny side, namely in the southwest or southeast.

Advice! A pit for planting Arochny grapes must be prepared in advance, in the fall. This is necessary to saturate the soil with oxygen and destroy most of the pests and spores of diseases that cannot survive at low temperatures.

The size of the seat specifically for Arched grapes is a meter per meter.

A few days before planting the grapes, drainage is laid in the pit. You can use pieces of brick, expanded clay or crushed stone. Pour the nutrient mixture on top: sand, peat and humus in equal amounts.

Sprinkle each layer with mineral fertilizers, such as:

  • potassium superphosphate – 100-200 grams;
  • ammonium nitrate – about 30 grams;
  • potassium salt – 100 grams.
Attention! Potassium salt can be replaced with wood ash.

Fertilizers should not be poured onto the last layer of soil, otherwise burns form on the root system. Fill the hole with warm water up to two buckets and let the soil settle a little.

We plant a vine

Arochny grape sapling can be with an open or closed root system. Preparation and planting will be somewhat different:

  1. A vine with an open root system is soaked for two hours to awaken the roots and saturate them with moisture. It is best to carry out this procedure in a solution of heteroauxin.
  2. In the central part of the pit, a hill is made of soil about 15 cm high, on which a bush of grapes “sits”, like on a chair. Roots are neatly straightened. Make sure that the roots are pointing straight down!
  3. Arochny grape seedlings with a closed root system are easier to plant, you just need to make a depression of the right size in the center of the pit.
  4. After planting, the plants are watered abundantly. Then mulching is provided to retain moisture.
  5. Subsequent watering of the grapes is carried out weekly, pouring from 10 to 20 liters of water under the bush. This procedure stops in August so that the plant prepares for wintering.

Formation and pruning of the vine

One of the characteristics of the Arochny grape variety is its strong growth. Therefore, it must be properly formed. Otherwise, the branches will be very thickened, you will not have to wait for the harvest.

Arched grapes: variety description, photos, reviews

The vine planted in the first year is not touched, the first pruning is planned for next spring. Two lashes are left on the plant, which are cut in different ways:

  • the first is a fruit link, 5 to 8 buds are left on it;
  • the second branch is called the replacement knot. It is cut into two kidneys.

On the third spring, the vine of the Arochny variety is already trimmed with a replacement knot. The work is carried out by analogy: on one branch there are 5-8 buds, and on the other, a replacement knot with two buds is formed again. The following year, a fruiting twig forms on it again.

Important! The first bunches are taken from Arched grapes on a two-year-old vine, so the formation must be carried out annually.

Pruning grapes in autumn is also necessary: after collecting brushes, the vine is cut into a stump. Berries, if the vine is formed incorrectly, if old branches are not cut, become small and tasteless.

Wintering

As already mentioned, the Arched vine is frost-resistant. But in the first years of life, more often in the southern regions, not to mention the zones of risky farming, the vine needs to be covered for the winter.

It is carefully removed from the supports, laid on the ground. You can cover with agrospan or spunbond. These covering materials not only allow oxygen to pass to the grape bushes, but also create favorable conditions for wintering.

In the northern latitudes, the plant requires careful shelter. Spruce branches are thrown on top, and even sprinkled with soil.

Attention! Additional shelter is especially important during winters with little snow.

Reviews of gardeners

Matvey, 41 years old, Novorossiysk
There are several varieties of grapes in my garden. I have been growing arched grapes for several years. It was planted next to the gazebo. The vine curls right over it. When the brushes begin to ripen, the arbor “paints” in different colors: on the south side, the berries are already pink-red, and on the north side, yellowish-green and pink. We use them fresh, the clusters hang on the vine for a long time without losing their taste. We escape from wasps and sparrows by covering the berries with gauze.
Alexander, 64 years old, Krasnoyarsk
He took up viticulture after his retirement. Three years ago I was vacationing in the south, my friends gave me a grape stalk, they said that it was the Arochny variety. Immediately upon arrival, planted on the site. In winter, the vine overwintered perfectly, because it covered it thoroughly. And I planted it in a trench, and now I put the vine in it in the fall. From above I pile boards, lay spanbond and sprinkle with earth. The first bunches ripened last year. They are exactly the same as in the description and in the pictures, specially compared. Liked the taste and aroma too.
Veronica, 45 years old, Mytishchi
When I planted the first cuttings of grapes, the neighbors laughed at me, saying that they would not ripen. I have been growing these plants for 10 years now. I have several arched bushes. Excellent grapes. Although there are many problems with growing. This is the fight against pests, diseases, and, most importantly, shelter from winter frosts. But it’s nothing when you see the result in reality. Do not be afraid to grow grapes, your own is much tastier than what they sell in the store.
