Apricot pits: benefits and harms. Video

Juicy, aromatic apricots are loved by both adults and children. Still, these fruits are so tasty and healthy. But not only the pulp is edible in apricots: they also eat apricot pits.

Useful properties of apricot kernels

Apricot pits are a source of valuable substances. They contain essential acids: tyrosine, valine, arginine, methionine and others. Also, these nucleoli have a high content of magnesium, phosphorus, iron, calcium, sodium, potassium and other valuable biologically active substances.

And in the bones there is such a valuable and rare vitamin B17 – amygdalin. The amount of this substance varies from 10 to 12% (this figure depends on the variety of the fruit). The main place of concentration of amygdalin is the pointed base of the bone. It is because of him that apricot kernels have a bitter taste. When it enters the stomach, amygdalin is broken down into hydrocyanic acid and other elements. So, hydrocyanic acid is a very strong poison. In view of this, it is recommended to eat no more than 20 g of apricot kernels, because you can get poisoned. At the same time, thanks to the presence of vitamin B17, apricot seeds are used to fight cancer (when B17 enters the body, only cancer cells die, and healthy cells are not harmed – a kind of natural chemotherapy is obtained).

Before using apricot kernels for medicinal purposes, it is recommended to consult a doctor

Due to such a rich composition, apricot pits are widely used in folk medicine. They are used in the fight against various parasites, including worms. Oil is extracted from apricot kernels. Back in the Middle Ages, this valuable product was equated with gold. This oil has a healing, emollient, anti-inflammatory, anthelmintic, antioxidant and penetrating effect.

Children should not eat more than five apricot kernels per day.
