PSYchology

An approach in practical psychology is a set of concepts and technologies used that make up a clearly stated, well-established and integral system. Signs that allow us to talk about the presence of a mature and independent approach are —

  • own vision of human nature, laws of individual life and mechanisms of personality development.
  • own philosophy of life
  • own conceptual apparatus, and sometimes language
  • their unique therapeutic, educational or developmental technologies.

The humanistic approach of Carl Rogers is both his own vision of human nature, and a certain philosophy of life, his own conceptual apparatus and his own unique technologies.

NLP by D. Grinder and R. Bandler is a different conceptual apparatus and its own language, a different philosophy, a different vision of human nature and completely different and also unique technologies.

It is extremely difficult to make a classification of approaches, currents and schools within practical psychology, since each specialist claims to be unique and often considers himself an exponent of not only an approach, but also a new trend in practical psychology.

Basic approaches in practical psychology

The main approaches in practical psychology can be identified by asking the following questions. The first question is: what determines who or what is responsible for external behavior? The second question is: on what does it depend or who is responsible for the inner in a person? Answer options: external circumstances, internal impulses and states, the person himself personally. Thus, nine main approaches in practical psychology can be distinguished. See →
