The Pink Pearl apple tree is different from other varieties. The appearance and taste of the fruit is original. The flesh is red, but the apple peel is green or yellow.
Description of the variety “Pink Pearl”
The trees of this variety are medium-sized, 6-8 m high. They belong to the early winter varieties. The harvest period depends on the region of cultivation, the fruits ripen in late September or early October.

“Pink pearls” are popular in America, suitable for growing in central Russia, as they are frost-hardy. It endures harsh winters without shelter. The disadvantage is low drought resistance, moisture deficit is detrimental to the apple tree.
Variety characteristic:
- fruit size 5-6 cm, sometimes 10 cm in diameter;
- the taste of apples is sweet, but slightly tart, like grapefruit;
- the skin is thin, there are many white dots, the color is from yellow-green to plum;
- the pulp is juicy, grainy, pink or red;
- the smell of apples resembles raspberry.
The fruits contain a lot of iron, fiber and other vitamins. After harvest, they do not lose their taste for 4 months.
Growing a pink apple tree
In order for the tree to bear fruit every year, you need to select a site with fertile soil for it. The groundwater depth is less than 2,5 m. A sunny area is suitable for an apple tree, then the fruits will ripen well and retain the taste characteristics of the variety. The soil is neutral, loamy or sandy loam.
Plant in the spring. Pour a bucket of compost or humus into the pit. The root collar of the seedling should be 5 cm above the soil surface.
A pink apple tree needs this care:
- after planting, shorten the top of the seedling by 3 buds, this is necessary to stimulate growth and crown formation;
- in spring and autumn, feed trees with complex mineral or organic fertilizers;
- in early October, mulch the soil around the trunk with manure or compost;
- water young seedlings regularly, adult trees need moisture only in dry summers;
- remove dry branches and shoots that thicken the crown;
- treat the tree from pests and diseases in the spring.
To increase yields, it is necessary to plant Pink Pearls next to other varieties. Leave a distance of 3-4 m between trees.
Apples of this variety are not only useful, they have medicinal properties. They should be eaten for kidney disease and stool disorders. Freshly squeezed juice improves eyesight.
