Apple tree Memory Lavrik (Lavrikov) is a late summer variety. It is not yet listed in the State Register of the Federation. A description of the Lavrikovo apple variety with photos and reviews will help to study in detail its characteristics, pros and cons, features of planting and care.
History of breeding
Pavel Iosifovich Lavrik worked on breeding the variety, after whom the apple tree was named. The breeder did not have time to finish the work, but his colleague L. A. Zhmurko successfully completed it. The birthplace of the novelty is the Leningrad fruit and vegetable experimental station. For selection, the old folk summer variety Papirovka and the late autumn Bellefleur-Chinese apple tree were used.
Description of the apple tree Memory Lavrik with a photo
Variety Memory Lavrik combined the features of both parents. This also affected the appearance of the apple tree, and a number of its characteristics.

Description of fruits
The fruits of the Pamyat Lavrik variety are intended primarily for fresh consumption, but are also well suited for processing. Main characteristics of apples:

Characteristic of the variety
The well-developed and deeply penetrating root system of the Lavrik Memory apple tree provided it with good drought resistance. The variety has many other positive characteristics.
Palatability
Apples of the Memory Lavrik variety have sweet and sour pulp. Its excellent taste is considered dessert. It is estimated at 4,8-4,9 points.
Terms of maturation
Apple tree Memory of Lavrik is a summer variety of culture. In terms of maturation, it belongs to the late representatives of this group. Harvested in late August or early autumn.
Productivity
At the age of 15, the memory of Lavrik apple trees bring an average of 45 kg of fruit. The maximum yield per tree is 60 kg. Apple trees begin to bear fruit 5-6 years after planting in the garden.
Frost resistance
The apple tree Memory Lavrik has good winter hardiness. According to this indicator, the variety is not inferior to its parent – Papirovka, which can withstand frosts down to -40 ° C.
Pollinators
Without cross-pollination, Memory Lavrik will practically not give apples. The variety is self-fertile. The following apple trees are suitable for pollination:
- Paping;
- Wine;
- Fragrant.
Where is grown
The Leningrad Fruit and Vegetable Experimental Station sets adaptation to the conditions of the North-West as one of the main breeding goals. This also applies to the apple tree Memory Lavrik. The variety is well adapted to the conditions of its native region, but it is also successfully grown in other areas, including the middle lane, the south.
Disease resistance
The apple tree Memory Lavrik is highly resistant to scab. The variety also has good immunity to powdery mildew and cytosporosis.
Advantages and disadvantages
Apples Pamyat Lavrik have high commercial and consumer qualities. The variety can be grown not only in private gardens, but also for industrial purposes.
Pros:
- excellent taste;
- juicy pulp;
- high winter hardiness;
- scab immunity;
- drought tolerance;
- high transportability.
Cons:
- productivity is not high enough;
- keeping quality is below average;
- self-infertility.
Rules of landing
Apple trees Memory Lavrik are grown in sunny areas. Basic requirements for the place:
- remoteness of groundwater at least 3-3,5 m;
- good ventilation, but no drafts;
- drainage;
- the soil is better podzolic or loamy.
Both spring and autumn planting are suitable for the variety. In regions with a harsh climate, it is better to choose the beginning of the season. The landing pit is prepared in advance – for spring planting from autumn:
- Dig a hole with a diameter of 1-1,2 m, a depth of 0,7-0,9 m.
- Pour fertile soil with organic matter and minerals at the bottom.
- Organize drainage.
- Spill a hole – 50-60 liters of water.
- Cover with waterproof material.
When planting several trees, pits are made at intervals of at least 3,5 m. An apple tree is planted as follows:
- From the north side, dig a stake.
- Place the seedling in a recess and carefully straighten the roots.
- Fill the hole with earth, tamping in layers with your hands.
- Water – 50-60 liters of water.
- Mulch the trunk circle with sawdust or compost.
Care instructions
In care, the apple tree Memory Lavrik is quite unpretentious. It needs to be watered only during the dry season. Enough 4-6 times during it. 50 liters of water are spent on a tree, bringing it into the near-trunk circle. Young seedlings are moistened as the topsoil dries up. Since August, watering is reduced, and in the fall they stop completely. This is important in preparing for winter.
In spring and autumn, the soil in the near-trunk circle should be dug up. During the season, it is treated with a hoe or sown with herbs.
Top dressing is applied twice a year:
- spring – ammonium nitrate, the application rate is calculated according to the age of the tree;
- autumn – organic matter and potassium-phosphorus complex.
The Crown of Lavrik’s Memory must be formed. This pruning is carried out in the spring. It is better to choose a sparse-tiered type – the presence of a central conductor and several skeletal branches, which are located at different heights and far from each other. Fruiting shoots are annually shortened by a third.
Sanitary pruning is also necessary. Remove all damaged, dry and diseased branches, specimens that grow inward or vertically. From 12-15 years old, anti-aging pruning begins.
The frost resistance of the Memory of Lavrik is good, but preparation for winter should not be ruled out. For winding the trunk, you can use roofing felt, burlap or nylon. Additionally, this will serve as protection against rodents, if you also lubricate the bark with fuel oil or grease. The roots are covered with a layer of spruce branches, straw or dry foliage. It is also necessary to whitewash the trunk – protection from pests, sunburn.
Diseases and pests of the apple tree Memory Lavrik
The apple tree Memory Lavrik is resistant to scab, but this does not exclude the possibility of other diseases. One of them is late blight. This fungal disease quickly leads to the death of the tree. Fungicides are used for treatment and prevention:
- Alirin-B;
- Previkur Energy;
- Oksikhom;
- Gamair;
- Ridomil Gold.
The main pest is the codling moth. It poses a danger in the caterpillar phase. For control and prevention use:
- Lepidocide;
- Engio;
- Fufanon-Nova;
- Decis Profi;
- Karate Zeon;
- sharpei;
- Fitoverm;
- Bitoxibacillin.
Collection and storage
Apples are harvested first from the lower branches, then gradually move towards the top. From it, the fruits are removed exclusively with the help of a ladder, so as not to damage the bark. The apple is twisted together with the stalk.
Harvest as it is harvested is immediately placed in baskets or boxes. Damaged apples are harvested separately – they are consumed or processed first.
The apple tree Pamyat Lavrik is late summer, but in terms of storage time, the crop is more like an autumn variety. Fruits lie up to 70 days. The optimum storage temperature is 2-5 °C.
Conclusion
Apple tree Memory of Lavrik is a late-summer medium-sized variety. It is resistant to a number of adverse factors, good taste and commercial qualities. It is grown in different regions of the Federation.
