Appetite for Literature in Archigula

Literature and Gastronomy come together to create the First Cultural Festival called Archigula.

Culture should not be understood without approaching the culinary arts.

It seems that art is only captured with sculpture or painting, but for decades, prestigious chefs have been developing an enormous cultural and informative work in terms of their gastronomic creation.

For this reason, on February 6, 7 and 8, a series of activities will be carried out, within the framework of the festival, which will try to satisfy the appetite for food and of course for letters.

In Cultural Center of Taste “A Punto”Located at Calle Hortaleza, 64 in Madrid, culinary creation will be unleashed along with the most exquisite literary soups to bring reading to any gourmet who wants to learn, know and above all taste haute cuisine and successful and recent literature .

Some of the best references in our cuisine will elaborate the recipes that appear to us reflected in hundreds of lines of current and traditional novels.

During the celebration of the pairings, it will be possible to attend to the link between both arts that will be exposed to us by the figures of gastronomic criticism, trying to reel off the cultural link that unites literary creation with the process of culinary elaboration.

There will be no shortage of tributes and other mentions to the illustrious contemporaries who are no longer among us but who have left a deep mark on their novels and stories.

During the first day La novela Negra de Manuel Vázquez Montalban, will return to the front page with the high gastronomic content that he keeps in the interior of the vast majority of his stories from the hand of the detective Pepe Carvalho.

It will take place in a gathering participated by Maruja torres, journalist and writer, in collaboration with Xabier Gutierrez, chef and head of the restaurant’s R&D laboratory Arzak as well as a writer with a biography of 17 titles, all of them in the field of cooking and gastronomy.

To liven up the gathering, the chefs Sacha Hormaechea and Miguel López Castañier, of the Restaurant Sacha and del Chiscón respectively, they will prepare a very special menu.

Magic and its link with literary culture will be present on the second day with aspects and production processes closely related to culinary creation.

 Potions, spells, enchantments, in short, alchemy in the stove and in the media where the components and their processes are reflected, that is, in those “magic” books.

The writers Carmen Posadas, Dolores Redondo and Mercé Castro, will be moderated by Ismael Díaz Yubero, to develop this fascinating mystical world and reel off works such as “The Baztán Trilogy ”or“ Mantis”And the occultism of the kitchens of its protagonists.

The culinary entertainment will be in charge of  Iñaki Camba and Unai Camba, chefs del restaurante Arce.

Cooking will be Abraham Garcia, with the memories of his famous “Viridiana“.

To conclude the showcase of themes and activities, lifelong memories will be on stage during the last day of the event. Flavors of our grandmothers and mothers will introduce the exhibition of Juan Jose Millas accompanied on the stove by Jesus Almagro, chef of the restaurant Piñera.
