Apo-Tamis is a drug intended for men. It is used in the case of benign prostatic hyperplasia, causing smooth muscles to relax. We check whether there are contraindications to the drug treatment, as well as the recommended precautions in pharmacological therapy.

Apo-Tamis – action

Apo-Tamis is used in the case of problems with urination associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia. The drug has a diastolic effect. It increases the flow of urine while reducing symptoms associated with problems with urination, including irritation and obstruction. It also minimizes symptoms that come directly from filling and emptying the bladder.

Apo-Tamis – drug composition

The active substance in Apo-Tamis is tamsulosin, which blocks the alpha1-adrenoceptor receptors. This chemical compound can also be used in the treatment of overactive bladder or urolithiasis.

Apo-Tamis – dosage

Apo-Tamis is a capsule drug. It is recommended to take one capsule daily before breakfast or after the first meal. The capsules must not be chewed and / or chewed. Swallow it with a glass of water at the same time. People diagnosed with dysphagia may open the capsule and then swallow only the contents.

Apo-Tamis – Recommended Precautions

Before a patient starts treatment with Apo-Tamis, the attending physician (urologist) should rule out other diseases that may cause similar symptoms, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia. Men who are about to undergo cataract surgery must not take Apo-Tamis as they may experience low blood pressure, which can lead to fainting or dizziness.

Apo-Tamis – side effects

The most common side effects after taking Apo-Tamis are:

  1. dizziness;
  2. ejaculation disorders;
  3. retrograde ejaculation;
  4. inability to ejaculate;
  5. constipation;
  6. diarrhea;
  7. blurred vision;
  8. rash;
  9. itching;
  10. rhinitis.

Fainting and angioedema are less common. Painful erections are the least common (one in 10 patients) to develop.

Due to the fact that visual disturbances may occur after taking Apo-Tamisu, it is not recommended to drive a car or operate machinery. Usually, this only applies to the first phase of drug use.

Apo-Tamis – contraindications

The main contraindication to the use of Apo-Tamis is an allergy to tamsulosin or another substance contained in the capsule. Patients who have problems with liver failure or suffer from drops in blood pressure should also not take Apo-Tamisu.

Apo-Tamis is a prescription drug. For this reason, its price depends on the fees due to the patient. Its cost ranges from 5 to even 70 zlotys for a package containing 30 or 100 orange capsules. They have a gelatinous form. They contain whitish or yellowish granules.
