Apap Extra is a drug used in pain of various etiologies; headaches, including migraine, muscle, toothache, neuralgia, menstrual, osteoarticular, post-operative and post-traumatic pain, and to relieve symptoms of cold and flu such as; fever, sore throat, muscle and bone and joint pain.

SUBSTANCE 1 tablet contains: 0,5 g of paracetamol, 0,065 g of caffeine.
Apap Extra – action
Apap Extra is a preparation with analgesic and antipyretic properties, containing substances such as paracetamol and caffeine. Caffeine intensifies the analgesic effect and paracetamol, it also stimulates the central nervous system. Both of these components cross the placenta and also into breast milk
Apap Extra – purpose and dosage
Apap Extra is indicated for pain of various types:
- muscles
- teeth,
- neuralgia,
- menstrual,
- osteoarticular,
- postoperative and post-traumatic,
- signs of colds and flu (fever, sore throat, aches and pains in the muscles and joints).
The preparation is in the form of coated tablets, for oral use, they should be used according to their intended use and instructions. Do not use in children under 12 years of age. Exceeding the recommended daily dose of the drug may endanger your life or health.
- Adults and children after 12 years 1-2 tablets every 4-6 h; max. 8 tablets / day
Apap Extra and contraindications
The use of Apap Extra tablets is limited in people:
- allergic to any ingredient of the drug,
- who have congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate and methaemoglobin reductase,
- suffering from alcoholism,
- suffering from impaired kidney and liver function,
- having heart rhythm disturbances,
- women in the first trimester of pregnancy,
- breastfeeding women,
- MAO inhibitors who have been using simultaneously for the last 2 weeks.
ATTENTION! Do not give to children under 12 years of age.
Apap Extra – warnings
- When symptoms persist, a medical consultation is recommended within a few days.
- Do not use in women in the second and third trimester of pregnancy (only after medical consultation).
- Check the paracetamol content in other medications taken, there may be a risk of overdosing.
- It should be remembered that caffeine increases the analgesic effect of paracetamol.
- People with liver failure and those who abuse alcohol are at risk of liver damage.
- It should be used with caution in patients suffering from: liver failure, bronchial asthma, hyperthyroidism and insomnia.
- Alcohol should be strictly avoided while consuming the drug.
Apap Extra with other medications
- Taking Apap Extra with other paracetamol-containing drugs increases the effect of antidiabetic and anticoagulant drugs (warfarin, coumarin).
- Drug administration with rifampicin; antiepileptic drugs, barbiturates and other drugs that induce microsomal enzymes of the liver – increases the risk of liver damage.
- Paracetamol contained in the preparation in combination with MAO inhibitors may cause fever and agitation.
- Taking the drug with zidovudine may increase the risk of liver damage and neutropenia.
- The drug increases the tachycardia in combination with sympathomimetic preparations and thyroid hormones.
- Contraceptive drugs (cimetidine, quinolones and verapamil) block the metabolism of caffeine.
Apap Extra – side effects
While taking Apap Extra, the following may occur:
- nausea,
- vomiting,
- digestive disorders,
- allergic reactions (hives, erythema, rash),
- arrhythmia of the heart,
- insomnia,
- inability to focus attention,
- muscle tremors,
- irritability.
- isolated cases of hematological disorders (thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis),
- kidney and liver damage (after overdose).
