Another 70 children learned how to care for the health of their teeth

The end of the school year is still ahead of us, but the organizers of “Share a Smile” have already summed up the achievements of the next edition of this nationwide educational program. As part of the 9th edition, primary school students from all over Poland learned about the principles of proper oral hygiene during special lessons.

The “Share a smile” program was initiated in 2013 by the Polish Red Cross and Mars Polska in response to alarming statistics on the health of Polish children’s teeth. As part of the ninth edition of the program, nearly 70 Students of grades 780-XNUMX from over XNUMX primary schools in the country learned during a series of classes how to take care of their teeth and prevent caries thanks to four simple steps.

Schools from all over Poland, as every year, have become extremely active in the “Share a smile” program, which makes us very happy. It also shows that the problem still exists and the program is needed. Thanks to the involvement of PCK coordinators, organizers and teachers, more children will be able to properly care for a healthy and beautiful smile – said Małgorzata Szukała, Head of the Promotion and Income Department at the Office of the Polish Red Cross Main Board.

From the very beginning, the initiative has been supported by substantive partners – the Polish Dental Society and the Polish Society of Pediatric Dentistry. As part of the 9th edition of “Share a smile”, completely new educational materials were created, adapted to the needs of a modern school, but also to the prevailing pandemic situation. experiments. Children’s books, multimedia presentations and animations have been successfully used both during traditional lessons and online classes. Thanks to them, it was easier for students to learn and understand the benefits of proper dental hygiene. Once again, actress and social activist Magdalena Różczka became the ambassador of the project.

We greatly appreciate the fact that, despite the difficult pandemic situation, schools were so eager to implement the assumptions of the program. Caries is a serious social problem, so as a manufacturer of sugar-free gum – chewing which is one of the basic elements of caries prevention – we are actively involved in education on oral hygiene. We have been actively working for almost 10 years so that as many people as possible can enjoy a healthy smile for many years, says Beata Rożek, Corporate Affairs Director at Mars Polska.
