The ankle joint is part of the skeletal system that is the foundation of our body. The ankle joint is nothing more than the connection of the shin bone with the foot. He is exposed to various types of injuries because he works intensively during every step we take. Sprain, sprain and fracture are the most common injuries. Very often it is because of its damage that we have to visit an orthopedist.
The ankle joint – how is it built and who is at risk of injury?
We can distinguish ankle upper and lower. On the lower ankle joint it is responsible for turning and inverting the foot. Upper ankle joint on the other hand, it is responsible for the upward and downward movements of the foot, i.e. it is responsible for dorsiflexion and plantar flexion, respectively. His most common conditions are sprain, dislocation and fracture. For an ankle sprain People who play sports, overweight people and women who frequently wear high-heeled shoes are at risk. At the moment of twisting, the structures are overloaded ankle joint.
The first step is stretching the ligaments – it is accompanied by pain, limited mobility and a small hematoma. The second degree is ligament rupture – the symptoms are very similar but stronger. In the case of the third degree, we are dealing with something much more serious, i.e. ligament tearing. The joint is then unstable, swelling and severe pain appear. If there are slight twists ankle joint, may end up with ice packs or elastic bandages, while heavier sprains require immobilization. Pain in this area can last for quite a long time as it is a very sensitive part of the skeletal system.
In order to protect the ankle joint against injuries and support it in the event of their occurrence, it is worth reaching for a special compression band, e.g. for the heel spur and the ankle joint OS1st FS6 available at Medonet Market in black, white or flesh-colored and in various sizes. The headband can be worn both during the day and at night. It will reduce swelling and inflammation. You can also try the OS1st AF7 Ankle and Achilles Tendon Compression Brace in the left or right version.
Ankle joint – treatment
Whenever an injury occurs ankle joint, please consult your doctor for treatment. In extremely difficult cases, it may be necessary to undergo surgery. Rehabilitation is also very important, as it greatly facilitates the treatment of injuries and allows the limb to function again.
As an adjunct in the treatment of joint problems, you can use Cryossil AZ – a regenerating gel for the area around the joints, which is quickly absorbed and strengthens the tissues surrounding the joint.
To be secured ankle joint An orthosis (stabilizer) is also used to keep it in a fixed position. It works in a similar way to plaster and is used for various injuries, such as sprain or rupture of the Achilles tendon. Air cushions between the layers of the material stabilize and stiffen the leg and protect against abrasions. You can choose the right size and more or less stiff material.
It is worth using compression bands designed to stabilize and reduce pain associated with the ankle joint. We recommend, for example, a compression band for the calf and ankle joint – OS1st FS6 + in black, white, pink or yellow. The bands are available in various sizes.
It also happens that rheumatoid diseases are the cause of joint pain. In this case, pharmacological treatment (anti-inflammatory and pain relieving drugs) is used. It is worth recalling that after such an injury, physical exertion, which may again burden the joint, should be avoided. It is also important to wear comfortable shoes.
To support the treatment of ankle problems, we recommend OS1st FS4 compression socks for the ankle and heel spurs in black or gray.
