Following the two-volume «Directors of the Present» (Seance, Amphora, 2008), Andrey Plakhov released a new volume of the «House of Cinema» series — it is dedicated to the directors of the future. The author admits that he did not select the heroes for the book according to the “principle of the best”, but singled out those whom he considers the most promising in terms of the movement of cinematic ideas. The book contains 16 portraits (and interviews) of filmmakers of the XNUMXst century who already have a worldwide reputation and awards from prestigious festivals. Among them are Americans, Chinese, Mexicans, a German Turk, a native of Tunisia and two Russians: Kirill Serebrennikov and Alexei German Jr. All of them «miraculously maintain and assert their individuality in the world of a unified brand culture.» This miracle has other names — «instinct», «talent».
