Four years ago, she removed both fallopian tubes (aka fallopian tubes) that connect the ovary to the uterus. Elizabeth had cases of oncology in a relationship, so she, without hesitation, decided to have it removed. In addition, it is believed that such an operation is a reliable method of contraception. However, in Elizabeth’s case, this method had a serious breakdown.
At some point, an experienced mother suspected that her morning sickness was not without reason. She took a pregnancy test.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes! I thought I was sterile, ”Elizabeth recalls her first reaction. – I immediately woke up my husband, and he took me to the hospital. However, the ultrasound only confirmed the test results. “
After the allotted nine months, an absolutely healthy child was born. Baby Benjamin was born with a weight of 3,5 kilos.
“Of course, at first I was shocked, the fourth pregnancy was not at all part of my plans, and I always plan everything in advance,” says Elizabeth. – But, as they say, if you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans. Benjamin is a wonderful child. And I am very lucky that he appeared in my life. “
Elizabeth gave birth by caesarean section. After this birth, the perplexed surgeons checked again to see if the tubes were removed. But the doctors could only shrug their shoulders: “There is nothing there …”
Elizabeth’s case is very rare: in theory, it is impossible to become pregnant after such an operation. Only with the help of IVF, when an already fertilized egg is transferred into the uterus. But Elizabeth did not do IVF.
“The fallopian tubes cannot be completely removed,” says Elizabeth Davor Jurkovic, a gynecologist at University College London, on the miracle pregnancy. – A tiny part of them passes through the muscle of the uterus, so it must be left.
