PSYchology

The ethical typology of personality is built by the intersection of two semantic axes:

  • caring only for yourself — caring not only for yourself, but also for other people and life
  • caring at one’s own expense — caring for someone else’s expense

To what extent can the proposed formulations be applied to individuals of different levels? What clarifications need to be made for different life situations?

Mindless and conscious existence

He cares at least about himself, at least about someone, a thinking, conscious person, and there are few of them. Accordingly, in the application to thoughtless existence, the typology is deciphered in slightly different formulations:

The consumer lives at his own expense, the Parasite — for someone else’s.

A romantic dreams of helping others, the Creator creates real conditions for this.

For one’s own — at the expense of others

At your own expense — not necessarily only with your own hands. See →

The characteristic «At someone else’s expense» implies that the other side is against the use of its forces and resources, but this is not always the case. See →

Ethical typology in practice

A man named A believes that he is an absolute creator and backs up his opinion with many facts of their lives. He really took the initiative and took care of others, «dragged» the team behind him to achieve goals. But the team saw consumer behavior in actions A, because they believed that all his actions were aimed at satisfying their own needs (getting a personal bonus). See →
