An intimate moment: how to choose the right hygiene products and underwear

The health of a woman depends on the answers to these questions.

Moscow Medical Academy. THEM. Sechenov, candidate of medical sciences.

It is necessary to take an intimate shower twice a day: slightly warm, but by no means hot water. After the shower, do not wipe off the moisture, but pat it dry with an individual soft towel. As part of an intimate soap or gel usually lactic acid and a biologically active substance that has a prophylactic antimicrobial effect are present. You can also use soft baby soap. But any detergent should not be used too often, so as not to disrupt the natural microflora.

* On a long journey, during work, when the shower is not available, wet antiseptic will come to the rescue napkinsthat do not contain alcohol. They include vegetable oils, herbal extracts and the same lactic acid.

* If you want to protect yourself from bacteria (for example, before going to the pool or swimming in the open water), use special moisturizers and soothing creamsantiseptics. Such creams will relieve the mucous membrane and excessive dryness, which often appears with age, after a change in hormonal levels.

* Buy quality white soft toilet paper.

With wings, but no scent

* It is better not to use panty liners unnecessarily, because it is an excellent breeding ground for bacteria. Or at least change them every 4-5 hours. It is also often recommended to change pads during menstruation, regardless of the amount of discharge.

* If there is a tendency to allergies, forget about scented pads!

* There are therapeutic and prophylactic padsimpregnated with herbal extracts: they help reduce the risk of inflammation of the pelvic organs, help with menstrual irregularities.

* You can use tampons only in the first days of the menstrual cycle, when the discharge is profuse enough. Tampons should be changed even more often than pads – every two hours. Exceeding the service life provokes vaginal dryness and irritation of the mucous membrane, and is also fraught with the rapid multiplication of dangerous microbes (this can cause the so-called toxic shock syndrome).

* In case of inflammatory diseases of the genitals and urinary tract, as well as after childbirth, tampons are not for you.

No greenhouse effect

* Never wear pants or tights over your naked body, no matter how much you want to avoid drawing the underwear seams through tight-fitting clothes. As a last resort, use a panty liner.

* The healthiest linen is, of course, pure cotton: it perfectly absorbs moisture and allows the skin to breathe. The addition of microfiber is not prohibited: there is no harm to health, and such panties are worn much longer. Wearing synthetic underwear is fraught with irritation on the skin. It does not “breathe” at all, so a favorable greenhouse environment is formed in the perineum for the reproduction of bacteria.

* Change your underwear daily. It is better to wash it by hand and not with washing powder, but with soap containing the largest amount of natural ingredients.

* It is not at all necessary to dress in tights with a fleece or thermal underwear at the onset of winter, if your individual cold threshold is low enough. Focus on your feelings. Aren’t you cold? So everything is all right. However, a woman who has recently given birth or has suffered from diseases of the genitourinary system should warm herself as thoroughly as possible.
