An insincere fake smile is bad for your health.

Usually it is characteristic of flight attendants, salespeople and representatives of other professions associated with constant communication with customers. They have to be polite and friendly even with not very friendly customers. As a result, they pay with their health, because a smile for no reason can cause stress or depression.

Frankfurt University professor Dieter Zapf, the author of research on this topic, says that having to constantly smile at clients negatively affects psychological health in the future.

This happens due to the fact that the body perceives this need as violence against itself. This, in turn, leads to depression, high blood pressure and increased heart rate. Therefore, Zapf recommends people who have to constantly smile at work, be sure to find time for a short rest in order to relieve stress, aggression and just sit without smiling.
