An elderly couple solved a crossword puzzle of 28 thousand words during a pandemic

“They don’t look a gift horse in the mouth,” we think, choosing another present for relatives or friends. But if you approached the issue with a bit of humor, be prepared for the fact that the recipients may take your gift seriously.

A few years ago, an American played a joke on his parents. At that time they were fond of crossword puzzles, so he decided to give them almost the largest crossword puzzle in the world measuring 213×213 cm. It consisted of 90 squares and included 000 questions. The set also included a 28-page brochure with riddles.

Could he then assume that in 2020 the world would be covered by a coronavirus pandemic and his gift would come in handy for elderly parents who were forced to while away all the evenings at home? They remembered about the gift in April, and in January 2021 they presented their work to their son and at the same time joked: now he has to check whether they gave accurate answers.

And if it took about 10 months to solve the crossword puzzle, how much time it will take to check it is still a big question. But, judging by the size of the canvas, which now hangs on the wall of the parents, this is not one month of work.

The young man was surprised – he did not expect such a development of events, but agreed to check everything. On the Internet, he talked about how he is now looking for the biggest sudoku in the world for his beloved mom and dad.

We should not underestimate parents, because even despite their age and possible lack of strength, they have enough energy and passion for what they love and to surprise and please you. Keep this in mind the next time you choose gifts for them.
