The war in Ukraine continues, with civilian casualties as well. Thousands of people are leaving their homes to seek refuge in other parts of the country. A unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross from Ivano-Frankivsk set out to help the internal refugees. “We will be grateful for any support and help from everyone” – appeals volunteer Natalia Shkleda. Poles got involved in helping.

«Friends, our regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross is organizing a fundraiser to help civilians. We mainly deal with the escort and delivery of humanitarian goods, provide first aid, help temporarily displaced persons and other vulnerable groups. We will be grateful to everyone for all your support and help, now every penny is important! » – Natalia Shkleda posted such an appeal on social media, a volunteer associated with the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Organization of the Society of the Red Cross of Ukraine. It deals with the logistic part of helping civilians.
Ivano-Frankivsk is a city with several hundred thousand inhabitants in western Ukraine and an important industrial center. Many people fleeing the war try to find shelter here. – Many people come from Kiev. We also have people from Mikołajewo and Winnica. They are mainly women, children and the elderly – Natalia Shkleda tells Medonet.

According to the volunteer, the Medical University of Ivano-Frankivsk has prepared several buildings with rooms for the arriving guests, and more places are still being prepared. – Those who need it receive psychological support. Some people are involved in helping as volunteers – says Ms Natalia.

We have a lot of work ahead of us – says the woman. – I am afraid of the humanitarian crisis that the war will bring – he admits at the end of our conversation.
