The case of an 18-year-old who was hospitalized in serious condition sparked a discussion in Italy about the need to change vaccination strategy with AstraZeneca. According to some experts, it should not be given to people under 30-40 years of age.

New recommendations regarding the use of the vaccine are awaited. It is currently recommended mainly for people aged 60 and over.

The controversy surrounding the AstraZeneki vaccine follows from single deaths among its recipients. Many countries then suspended the use of the preparation pending clarification of doubts. The case was investigated by the European Medicines Agency, which ruled on April 23 that Vaxzevria’s benefits are greater than its risks for adults of all age groups.

– We should not be afraid of any vaccine, because each one is good, and let’s try to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Currently, our main priority is to vaccinate as many people as possible as soon as possible – she emphasized in a recent interview with Medonet.

Many specialists also emphasized the fact that vaccines from other manufacturers may also cause adverse post-vaccination reactions of varying intensity.
