Amstel Gold Pintxos Championship.

Today the XNUMXth Euskal Herriko Pintxo Txapeleta Pintxo Championship was presented in Madrid, which for this new edition comes with the sponsorship of the brewing company

Next October the tenth edition of the Euskad Skewers Championshipi, that during the days of 19 to 21 they will bring us the best elaborations in this format.

The chefs and representatives of the hospitality establishments of Euskadi, Navarra and Iparralde, will make their recipes within the activities prepared in the bankruptcy sessions, in the emblematic Auditorio Itsas Etxea de Hondarribia.

The novelty of this year’s sponsorship is the result of the outreach activity that the Amstel Beer Brand, owned by the Heineken group, they have been developing to promote and grow the new roasted beer product, with its nickname of Gold.

The championship and its rules

There will be a maximum of 80 participants who will compete to win one of the three preparations that each of them must prepare.

The contestants will present a single elaboration, which must be accepted and will pass different filters before considering it suitable to participate definitively in the final phase of October.

The Jury will be made up of prestigious national chefs, such as the representatives of previous editions, the masters Martín Berasategui or David Muñoz, and for this occasion there will be 

Rodrigo García Fonseca, Alejandro Montes, Iván Muñoz, Martin Aristondo and Iván Dominguez



To the award Best Pintxos Bar of the Year, that this year as the XNUMXth anniversary, it is joined by the different awards that the sponsoring firm and other collaborators of the event grant such as:

  • Spruce AMSTEL GOLD Award for the champion endowed with 3.000 euros in cash, a txapela and a trophy created by chef Ramón Roteta.
  • Spruce Basque Government Award, for the second, endowed with 2.000 euros in cash and a diploma. 
  • Spruce Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and Hondarribia City Council Award for the third, endowed with 1.000 euros and a diploma.
  • Other prizes will be awarded to the elaborations at the best cod pintxo, the most innovative, the most creative or the award for Pintxo that best pairs with beer.

Very soon we will know who will complete this year’s list and will join the already famous winners of previous editions such as Jesús Íñigo and Nerea Sistiaga from Bar Ábaco de Huarte (Navarra), with its Rock sardine in 2014 or Bixente Muñoz del Bar Gran Sol de Hondarribia (Gipuzkoa) with its  Smoked cod toast.
