When it comes to AMH, this study assesses your ovarian reserve. They are performed when there are problems with female fertility. It is a method which makes it possible to determine whether a woman can still expect offspring. What is the test? AMH is nothing more than a simple test to determine the concentration of the AMH hormone, performed from the blood.

AMH study – results

Usually you don’t have to wait long for the results. They provide valuable information about the potential of a woman’s ovaries. The test can be performed on any day of the cycle. There is no right moment when it should be carried out. If the examination revealed that there is an ovarian reserve too short, this may mean that the woman is unlikely to have a baby or that she has very little time to become pregnant. Sometimes the obtained test result allows you to try to stimulate the ovaries with special drugs, but in most cases the ovarian response is insufficient. The test results are largely influenced by age. The older the woman, the lower the chances of pregnancy. This is due to the natural cycle and there is nothing we can do about it.

It is worth noting that the ovarian reserve begins to decline from around 20 years of age. However, this process has been very slow over the last 10 years. It should be noted that the ovarian reserve is never permanent. Performing the test gives us a picture of the condition of the ovaries only at this moment. If the AMH test result exceeds 3,0 ng / ml, it may indicate endocrine problems. Then it will be necessary to make an appointment with a specialist. Most likely, he will order a set of tests and check where the problem lies.

Typically, after the problem that caused the score surge has been treated, the woman has a chance of becoming pregnant. If the result is below 1,0 ng / ml, it very often points to the postmenopausal period. Sometimes it informs us that our ovaries are failing prematurely.

AMH research – price

The price of the test is usually around PLN 150. It may differ slightly depending on the city and the equipment used. However, AMH testing cannot be performed in every laboratory. Very few places have the necessary equipment. If you want to do them, you should make an appointment to a special clinic that treats infertility. In addition, you will have specialists on hand who will answer any questions that bother you. Also, a gynecologist or endocrinologist will certainly be able to interpret the test and suggest appropriate steps to achieve the desired pregnancy.

The AMH test is only an auxiliary method that can help determine the likelihood of pregnancy and it is not always a judgment that must be final.
