Amertil Bio for allergy. Composition and dosage of the drug

Amertil Bio is an antihistamine with antiallergic effect. It helps to treat symptoms of allergic and seasonal rhinitis, conjunctivitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. The active substance of Amertil Bio is cetirizine, which is designed to block substances that cause allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose or swelling of the mucous membranes.

AMERTIL BIO – action

Cetirizine in Amertil Bio blocks histamine type 1 (H1) receptors. The product is a second-generation drug and its purpose is to alleviate allergic symptoms. Action of the active substance cetirizinelasts for about 24 hours.

AMERTIL BIO – indications and dosage

Amertil bio is indicated for use in both adults and children after 6 years of age. Treats symptoms of chronic allergic and seasonal:

  1. conjunctivitis,
  2. rhinitis,
  3. idiopathic urticaria.

Dosage Amertil Bio

Amertil Bio is in the form of coated tablets and is intended for oral administration. Do not exceed the recommended daily doses, because it will not increase the effectiveness of the drug, and may be harmful to health or life.

  1. Adults and children after 12 years of age 10 mg once / d in the evening,
  2. Children 6-12. years of age> 30 kg bw. 10 mg once / d, <1 kg bw 30 mg 5 × / d,
  3. In children under 6 years of age, it is recommended to take the drug in the form of drops or syrup,
  4. In people with impaired liver or kidney function, the doctor will adjust the dose of the drug,
  5. In people with moderate renal insufficiency, the dose should be reduced by half.

AMERTIL BIO – contraindications to the use of the drug

Amertil Bio cannot be used if:

  1. you are hypersensitive to any component of the drug (hydroxyzine or levocetirizine),
  2. you suffer from kidney failure,
  3. you are breastfeeding
  4. you are intolerant to galactose,
  5. you have a lactase deficiency,
  6. you suffer from glucose-galactose malabsorption.

During pregnancy, you should not use any medication without consulting your doctor.

AMERTIL BIO – drug warnings

  1. Patients with renal and / or hepatic insufficiency taking Amertil Bio should be especially careful,
  2. Before the planned skin tests, the drug treatment should be discontinued at least 3 days before,
  3. Remember not to consume alcohol or take other medications during the treatment period, which may have an inhibitory effect on the central nervous system,
  4. This medicine may make you feel sleepy
  5. People driving motor vehicles should be careful because Amertil Bio may cause visual disturbances and deterioration of concentration.

AMERTIL BIO – interactions with other drugs

During the treatment with Amertil Bio, inform your doctor about all medications you are taking (including over-the-counter medications).Theophylline (asthma preparation) taken at a dose of 400 mg per day may reduce the excretion of cetirizine.

Cetirizine – in combination with alcohol or other drugs limiting the functioning of the nervous system, it can inhibit it. Amertil Bio may influence the results of allergic skin tests.

AMERTIL BIO – side effects

While taking Amertil Bio as well as any other drug, side effects may occur, but not in all users of the drug. Typically, the effectiveness of the drug outweighs the negative effects. There may be side effects such as:

  1. headaches and dizziness,
  2. somnolence,
  3. fatigue,
  4. satisfaction
  5. dry mouth
  6. throat irritation
  7. cough,
  8. pharyngitis,
  9. nausea,
  10. diarrhea,
  11. abdominal pain,
  12. thrombocytopenia,
  13. difficulty urinating
  14. eye accommodation disorders,
  15. blurred vision
  16. tachycardia, edema,
  17. liver dysfunction
  18. contractions,
  19. paresthesia,
  20. fainting
  21. confusion,
  22. insomnia,
  23. stimulation,
  24. hostility,
  25. skin reactions (rash, hives, itching) and angioedema (which may obstruct breathing),
  26. anaphylactic shock.
