Ambazon is an antiseptic with antibacterial and antileukemic properties. The ambassador is believed to interfere with the membrane-bound nucleotide system in leukemic cells and macrophages, potentially contributing to the antitumor activity of this agent. Moreover, the affinity of this agent for various cellular targets, i.e. membranes, nucleic acids and proteins, may contribute to the overall antibacterial activity.

Ambassador – action

Ambazon has a disinfecting and bacteriostatic effect on bacteria such as: streptococci (hemolytic, greening, i.e. S. hemoliticus, S. viridans) and pneumococci, which are often the cause of mouth and throat infections. However, the ambassador is not as effective against staphylococci.

Ambason, as already mentioned, has an affinity for various cell structures of the mentioned pathogens, such as: cell membrane, nucleic acids, proteins, which prevents their further proliferation. It can therefore be said that the ambassador can prevent bacteria from colonizing the lymph nodes, sinuses or the middle ear in the early stages of the disease.

Available in the form of lozenges, the ambazon relieves swallowing and painful irritation in the throat. Thanks to the increased salivation, while sucking the tablet, the ambassador keeps the upper respiratory tract properly moisturized.

The ambazon is especially recommended by pediatricians because it does not affect the physiological state of the intestinal bacterial flora. As a result, the ambazon does not disturb the digestive tract in children.

Embassy – indications

The indications for the use of ambhasos are acute oral cavity infections, as well as monotherapy for mild infections. In the case of the ambassador, there is no interaction with other drugs, so it can be used as an adjunct to the treatment of colds with pharyngitis.

Doctors also recommend an outpatient clinic in the event of inflammation of the tonsils or after their removal. Moreover, the ambassador is sometimes used after dental procedures as a preventive measure after tooth extraction or to combat potentially developing infections such as gingivitis and stomatitis. Ambazon used in the case of mild infection of the upper respiratory tract, prevents the development of bacterial resistance to antibiotics (which distinguishes it from other drugs).

Ambazon – dosage

Amabzon is used in the form of lozenges.

Dosage:

  1. in the case of children from 3 years of age up to 7 years of age – one tablet is administered three times a day;
  2. in the case of children over 7 years of age and adults – one tablet is administered three to five times a day.

The ambassador should be taken approx. 30 minutes after a meal. The mouth should be rinsed with clean water before taking the ambassador.

The tablets should be sucked slowly until completely dissolved (do not swallow them). It is not recommended to eat or drink until 3 hours after using the ambassador.

It should be remembered, however, that the full effects of the ambassador appear within 3-4 days, when the patient’s saliva is completely saturated with the substance.

Ambazon – contraindications

Obviously, a contraindication to the use of the ambassador is hypersensitivity to this substance.

Other contraindications, in turn, arise from the form in which the drug is available. Ambason as a lozenge contains sucrose and lactose, which means that it should not be used by people with:

  1. hereditary glucose intolerance;
  2. Lapp lactase deficiency;
  3. glucose-galactose disaccharide malabsorption.

In addition, a contraindication to the use of the ambassador is hereditary fructose intolerance.

It is recommended to consult a physician beforehand in order to assess the risk-benefit ratio of administering a lozenge to an ambassador to a diabetic (the sugars in the tablet increase glycemia, which in turn affects the effectiveness of diabetic therapy).

Ambazon – pregnancy and breastfeeding

Due to the low absorption into the bloodstream (35-45%), there are no contraindications for the use of the ambassador by pregnant women and during breastfeeding.

Animal studies do not indicate direct or indirect harmful effects on pregnancy, embryo (fetal) development, parturition or postnatal development. However, the ambason should be used during pregnancy and lactation only in cases where, in the opinion of the doctor, the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

However, you should not give the ambhazon in the form of tablets to children under 3 years of age. due to its very pleasant taste (cases of overdose have been reported among the youngest patients). If the ambassador has been overdosed, it is recommended that the child be gastric lavage or induce vomiting, followed by administration of activated charcoal.

Ambassador – precautions

Ambazon is not addictive and is well tolerated by the human body.

Ambason does not affect psychomotor activity, does not cause concentration disorders or hyperactivity. Therefore, it can be safely used by children and people working with machines, drivers, etc.

Concerns that the bacteriostatic effect will disturb the physiological bacterial flora of the oral cavity and contribute to the development of mycosis in this part of the body have not been officially confirmed by the research results.

Ambason tablets should not be stored above 25 ° C. Store in the original packaging, out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the package.

Ambazon – side effects

The ambassador does not cause side effects. In some cases, a rash and itching may occur due to drug hypersensitivity.

It should be remembered that in the case of people who are lactose intolerant, the ambassador may cause digestive disorders.

Ambazon – badania

The healing properties of the ambassador were studied in laboratory rats, and the therapeutic dose was estimated at 60–125 mg / kg body weight. As mentioned earlier, the ambassador has antiseptic properties, which is manifested by increased activity against gram-positive cocci.

In addition to its antiseptic properties, the ambassador has also shown its ability to fight forms of leukemia in lab rats. After oral administration, the results showed an increase in life expectancy and a cure for L1210 and P388 leukemia in laboratory rats. Scientists used various methods to determine the results, such as; median survival time, percent increase in life expectancy, survival rates, percent change in body weight, and peritoneal cell count.

When testing the ambassador with the Ames test without metabolic activation, it is found not to be mutagenic or carcinogenic. When the same test is performed with metabolic activation, the potential for mutagenicity is noticeable. The results show two different pathways, and until further testing has been performed, it cannot be determined whether positive outweighs negative when it comes to using an ambhasus for treatment.
