Aloe – a wonderful plant
Z with the addition of aloe we can find it literally everywhere. Abused it is an ingredient of many products – from creams, masks, shampoos, supplements, for water. Indeed, it is worth using as much as possible its properties, however, only if we are talking about a specific amount, not a micro addition, which is only a marketing gimmick.
Everyone, who had the opportunity to be on vacation in the Canary Islands has seen a few meters long aloe vera, not too much resembling a plant in pots on our window sills. It is these green colossi that hide a real treasury of beneficial ingredients, i.e. barbalonin, aloeemodine, aloin. Thanks to this, they work almost comprehensively.
Glycoproteins contained in aloe vera have an anti-inflammatory effect, and polysaccharides facilitate regeneration, thanks to which aloe is used in many diseases and ailments.
What about aloe vera?
- Aloe vera gel contains active compounds that reduce pain and dermatitis and stimulate the repair process. For this reason it is used for minor cuts and burns, including these solar panels. Most of the scientific research confirms the reduction in time heal minor burns by at least a few days (Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2012 (2)). Aloe vera should not be used in the open wounds.
- Research has shown that aloe vera gel can be helpful in the treatment of genital herpes and psoriasis. It has excellent anti-inflammatory effect (compared to placebo and 1% cortisol cream). Scientists agree that aloe can be used in a number of ways dermatitis.
- There are assumptions that aloe gel it inhibits the activity of several types of bacteria that cause caries and gum disease (J Oral Sci. 2012; 54 (1): 15-21).
- Sok aloe vera can help lower blood sugar levels in people with diabetes type 2, and to regenerate alcohol-induced liver damage.
- RESEARCH show that the acemannan compound contained in aloe is combined antiviral, antibacterial and also stimulating properties immune system.
Aloe for laxation
Very often, aloe vera gel and aloe vera ‘juice’ are tossed into one bag. Is there is, however, a fundamental difference between them. The juice is obtained through drainage of the leaves with the skin. Thanks to this, it contains compounds called anthraquinones. The gel, on the other hand, is obtained from the jelly-like interior the leaf and these compounds are absent. Anthraquinones are quite strong laxative effect, cause strong contractions (Digestion. 1991; 49 (2): 65-71). Therefore, aloe vera gel should not be used for this purpose without consulting your doctor.
Everything with limit
Aloe vera, although it is a natural ‘medicine’, should be used wisely:
- It cannot be taken for two weeks before each surgical procedure, so as not to increase the bleeding during the operation.
- People with diabetes taking drugs that lower sugar levels at the same time should always be monitored by a doctor so as not to lead to hypoglycaemia, i.e. hypoglycaemia.
- Aloe can reduce potassium content in the orgasm, therefore it should not be combined with preparations having a similar effect: diuretics, i.e. diuretics and digoxin – a drug used to treat cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.
Aloe indeed it is an excellent natural medicine. If only we have one we can use it for everyday ailments. For safety however, it is better to consult a doctor each time. Even natural ingredients used incorrectly or in the wrong amount instead help, can harm.
