Aloe species and varieties

The second name of the tree-like aloe is the agave. With proper care, this species can be grown up to 1 m in height. But if you are going to grow it in a winter garden, then it can reach as much as 3 m.

Agave leaves are narrow and juicy. Reproduction takes place using cuttings. The peculiarity of this variety is that it is capable of giving roots directly in the water.

In life, Barbados aloe is most often called aloe vera. The main characteristics of this variety:

  • leaf length – up to 60 cm;
  • color – light bluish;
  • leaf shape – xiphoid with sharp teeth at the edges.

This is an evergreen and perennial flower that is popular in our country. Most often, aloe vera blooms with yellow flowers. It is very rare to find a red tint. At the end of flowering, the plant forms a special fruit-box.

The second name for aloe variegat is variegated aloe. The height of this flower does not exceed 30 cm. It differs in dark green rook-shaped leaves. Light spots and stripes are located on them. On the stem, the leaves are arranged in the form of a small spiral rosette. If you follow all the rules for caring for this plant, then it begins to bloom in late winter or early spring. The flower lives long enough.

Aloe is not only a beautiful decorative flower. It has medicinal properties, so it is very common to find it in private houses and apartments. Moreover, the plant is completely unpretentious in care and does not require increased attention to itself.
