Allergy to pads: symptoms and causes

Modern personal hygiene products for women are very convenient and almost imperceptible. Pads allow you to extend the life of your laundry, keep it clean and tidy. At the same time, they are practically not felt. However, some girls may develop allergies to the pads.

Causes of an allergy to pads

Pads are a great way to keep your laundry clean and odor-free. However, doctors assure: if a woman is healthy, it is not worth using such hygiene products every day. They will be needed only on the eve of and after menstruation.

The benefits of panty liners are small. To maintain cleanliness, it is enough for a girl without gynecological problems to change her underwear and take a shower in time. The gaskets are useful only on the road, at the cottage or on a hike.

Fragrances are one of the main causes of allergies. They are added to the inner layer to block the unpleasant odor of the discharge. Also, problems often arise with colored gaskets (black, pink, etc.). Dyes are poorly perceived by delicate skin, and are highly irritating to it.

Some girls may even be allergic to ordinary unpainted pads without fragrances. The reasons for this are bacteria and fungi. They are formed due to insufficient air permeability of the upper layer of the pads made of cellulose. The delicate skin begins to ache, and the moist environment is ideal for the development of dangerous microorganisms.

Panty liner allergy symptoms and remedies

The signs of a liner allergy are very obvious. At first, severe redness appears, which may be accompanied by a rash and swelling. Then there is severe itching in the intimate area. Also, a symptom of an allergy may be profuse vaginal discharge.

Allergy symptoms can appear both with the start of using the hygiene product, and somewhat later. They will be especially strong if you have previously removed all hair and the pad is in direct contact with the skin.

The intensity of the allergic reaction depends on the girl’s immunity and skin sensitivity. It is not worth not paying attention to the discomfort in the intimate area (if it is not very pronounced). Gynecologists warn: an allergy to pads can be a starting point for thrush, bacterial cystitis, vaginitis.

Use a chamomile solution to reduce discomfort. A cool compress must be applied several times a day and kept for about 15 minutes. Diluted alcohol or vodka applied to the inflamed area will help you to urgently relieve itching.

The usual precautions will help prevent germs from entering and developing. Wash your hands thoroughly before changing linen and pads. Don’t wear one hygiene product for more than three hours. Replacing the skin in the intimate area and avoid the growth of bacteria.
