Allergic cough symptoms

Cough is often one of the symptoms of allergies. However, an allergic cough is very difficult to distinguish from a cold. A common cough is accompanied by a sore throat, runny nose, and mild fever. With an allergic cough, things are a little more complicated.

Allergic cough symptoms

Allergic cough is one of the most common allergy symptoms. In combination with allergic rhinitis, it creates serious problems in the respiratory system. The first thing to do when an allergic cough appears is to try to be as far away from the pathogen as possible as soon as possible. If, of course, you know what exactly you are allergic to …

Allergic cough: the main symptoms

Allergic cough Is not a disease. Such a cough is called a cough variant of bronchial asthma, and this is just one of the symptoms of a common allergic disease. It occurs when allergens are exposed to the upper respiratory tract. This type of cough is associated with inflammation of the bronchi, trachea and throat mucosa.

An allergic cough, often paroxysmal, begins suddenly, and you literally cough. It usually lasts 2-3 weeks and is not accompanied by a temperature, but it can be combined with a runny nose. Allergic cough occurs mainly at night and stops during the day. The cough is dry. But if phlegm occurs, then it is transparent, without any admixture of pus. Also, symptoms of an allergic cough can include itching in the throat and nose, as well as sneezing.

The causes of allergic cough are different and depend on the type of allergy. Usually it is an allergy to dust, blooms, animal hair, or the body’s reaction to a foreign protein that can enter the body with a vaccine, plasma, serum.

Allergic cough: prevention measures

Although an allergic cough and all of its symptoms indicate a reaction to a specific external stimulus, it is very difficult to determine the specific cause of an allergy. If the allergy is food, then it is worth gradually removing all allergenic foods from the diet.

But mainly allergic cough is associated with “house” allergies: animal hair, dust, etc. It takes place mainly at night. Therefore, constantly ventilate the room before going to bed, and better during it. Dust off regularly. As for animals, here you have to decide for yourself what is more important to you: your well-being or your pet.

It is also advised to rinse your mouth and throat with warm water several times a day – especially after returning home from the street. You can also rinse your nose and nasopharynx with the same warm water once or twice a day.

As you can see, the symptoms of an allergic cough are quite simple, but you still need to understand that this is not a simple cold cough as soon as possible, since the treatment of such a cough should be timely, otherwise there is a risk of developing bronchitis with an asthmoid component first, and then everything can end with bronchial asthma. And this is no longer a joke.
