All the places where Prince Harry lived from birth to today
Dedicated to fans of the royal family.
Prince William’s sibling is a classic example of a tumbleweed. After graduating from high school, he traveled for a year and worked in Australia, Africa and Argentina. During his affair with Chelsea Davey, he regularly flew from England to South Africa. He also served in the army, living in an ordinary barracks. Nevertheless, he loves his personal space and tries to make it special.
Apartments 8 and 9 at Kensington Palace
His first home was the chambers of his parents in the palace, where he spent 13 years. The palace was built in 1605 and, unlike Buckingham Palace, is not a single whole, but a whole complex of buildings. The apartment is like an elegant townhouse, the decor of which was chosen by his mother, Princess Diana. Harry’s territory was a nursery, which occupied the entire top floor of a three-story building. This included the rooms of William and Harry, their nannies and security officers, as well as the bathrooms, playroom and kitchen. Dragons of Walton Street provided fresh, lightweight decor and a strawberry print rug.
An outstanding stone building in pastel colors located in the tiny village of Doughton, Gloucestershire, and was built in 1796. It has been Harry’s home since birth, and he still visits his father there. Highgrove has four reception rooms, nine bedrooms, six bathrooms, and an entire nursery wing. It’s a quintessential rural retreat, much less formal than Kensington Palace: plush armchairs and sofas, bookshelves, and a riot of plants. Interior designer Robert Kim was doing renovations after Charles and Diana split up. Gardens have always been Charles’ passion and favorite project. They are very diverse – from meadows with wild flowers, an English vegetable garden full of fruits and vegetables, luxurious flower beds to a hidden corner made entirely of tree roots. The house that the princes built on the tree still stands in the holly thickets,
Harry studied at Eton from 1998 to 2003. If one could look into his room at that time, it would be clear that he is growing into a very intriguing young man. A passionate patriot, he hung on his wall a national flag with the cross of St. George, but his insatiable desire to travel meant that the flag was hanging surrounded by artifacts brought from different parts of the world. And he decorated the opposite wall with photographs of girls from the covers of fashion magazines. There were no antiques – simple furniture and things that can be found in any English student dormitory. In addition, Harry hung portraits of his mother and friends, as well as the famous black and white poster of workers dining on the rafters during the construction of Rockefeller Plaza.
After breaking up with Diana, Charles moved to nearby St. James’s Palace, so when William and Harry came from the boarding house for the weekend and did not live with Diana, they stayed at their father’s new home, York House. After the Queen Mother’s death in 2002, Harry moved to her former possession of Clarence House, also located in St. James’s Palace. Although Harry lived in various army barracks at the time, the four-story building with a room overlooking the garden and a morning room remained his official residence. It is a light, spacious home with marble fireplaces, redesigned by favorite designer Harry Robert Kim in a classic, formal style. The walls are lined with paintings, and all surfaces are lined with priceless antiques, table lamps and framed photographs. The only sign of economy is bronze, not gold leaf in the decor.
Camp Bastion, Afghanistan
Although Harry only lived here from September 2012 to January 2013, many argue that he felt better in Spartan conditions than in palaces and castles. A large tent with linoleum on the floor was filled with temporary furniture. Empty boxes of ammunition served as tables, and four comrades played video games on a crumbling couch and had shell casings as ashtrays. They slept on narrow beds in sleeping bags without sheets. Harry brought a rug from home and also added an Afghan rug that was given to him as a decoration.
Nottingham Cottage, Kensington Palace
Harry moved from Clarence House back to Kensington Palace in 2012, around the time William and Kate moved to Nottingham Cottage to oversee renovations at Apartment 1A. Harry moved into a nearby one-room apartment, where he lived for a year before William and Kate left, and he became the sole owner of the Nottingham Cottage, where he has lived for four years. Meghan Markle stops here when she visits him, and this is where they will live after the wedding.
