You connected the washing machine, it may have started a wash cycle, but then stopped. On the control panel, the indicators above all the buttons blink, and a beep is heard. The washer notifies you of an error.
How to understand what kind of error it is, and what to do in case of a malfunction, you will learn in the article.
Why are all the lights on the washing machine flashing?
Depending on the causes of the breakdown, the self-diagnosis system of the washing machine may show a malfunction in different ways. In various brands of machines, such as Indesit, Ariston, Bosch or Samsung, a breakdown can be displayed by flashing two indicators or a rinse indicator.
The red light of the lock may also flash constantly. The causes of the malfunction must be sought in the decoding tables.
It happens that when you press the “Start” button, the light (indicator) of the lock flashes. This may indicate a door lock, after which the washing machine starts taking water and washing.
Before contacting a service center, determine the meaning of the fault code and try to fix it yourself.
All lights flashing, washing machine does not turn on
If the washing machine does not work, the red lights are on, or the indicators of all buttons are on, most likely the cause is a malfunction of the control board. Most often, as a result of a power surge, the capacitors of the electronic board burn out. Therefore, if you own a soldering iron, you can replace them yourself.
Another reason that the machine does not turn on is the glowing lock indicator with a smile. Check if you have turned on the child lock, so the rest of the buttons on the panel do not work.
When certain lights come on or flash, for example, the service button indicator in LG, Burning, Candy, Electrolux machines, the problem may be a malfunction of CMA parts:
- Breakage of the heating element for drying or heating water.
- Pump problems.
- Malfunction of the electronic motor.
- Problems with the command device.
It is necessary to establish the exact cause of the breakdown, and eliminate it – with your own hands or with the help of a master.
What to do if the lights on the washing machine blink
Your washing machine broke down and you don’t know what to do? When you turn it on, do all the indicators flash? Check in turn all possible sources of failure: board, drain system, correct installation, heating element.
We will analyze in detail how to inspect and replace or repair each part.
Electronic board
How to get to her:
- Unplug the washing machine.
- After unscrewing the two screws on the back, remove the top cover from the case by sliding it away from you.
- Remove the dispenser tray by pressing the lock in the center.
- Remove all screws holding the control panel.
- Release the plastic latches.
- After removing the panel from the CM case, take a picture of the location of the connectors for further correct connection.
- After disconnecting the wires, remove the panel.
- To remove the board, release the latches securing it to the panel.
Note! In the Indesit front-loading CMA, the electronic board is located at the rear of the case, from below.
Visually inspect the board at the time of burnout. Pay special attention to capacitors C16, C17, C20. If the capacitor is swollen or burnt, it needs to be replaced. If no external signs of damage are found, ring the capacitors with a multimeter. A defective part will not give indicators.
Locate a new part before replacing. To do this, look at the number of the capacitor. The element is installed using a soldering iron.
Most often, the reason that all the lights on the washing machine are flashing is the control board. Therefore, after repair, start the washer and check its operation.
If everything is in order with the board, you need to exclude other failure options.
Self draining
At the same time, water is constantly drained from the tank or it takes a very long time to fill. If you managed to install the program, then the electronic unit will reset it and give a fault code on the display, or the indicators will start flashing.
What you can do:
- Check and turn off the water supply valve to the end.
- Inspect the inlet hose – it may have kinked.
- Unscrew the inlet hose and clean the mesh filter if it is clogged.
Wrong installation
Spontaneous draining or water intake into the tank occurs when the hoses are connected incorrectly. Read the instructions carefully or call the wizard.
Wrong download
Modern washing machines react to overload or underload of laundry in the tank. In this case, an error code is displayed. To solve the problem, open the drum and spread out the laundry evenly, or remove some of it from the machine.
Pump problems
If the washing machine does not drain the water, then there are problems in the drain system. In this case, the system may reset the program and a fault code will be displayed.
Need to check and clean:
- Drain hose. Make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
- Sewerage. See if there is a blockage in the place where the hose is connected to the sewer.
- Impeller. To check the pump impeller, open the small door at the bottom of the front panel. Unscrew the drain filter, substituting a container to collect water. Shine a flashlight into the filter hole: perhaps a thread has wound around the impeller and the element is not spinning. Then you need to get to the pump and clean the impeller.
- You also need to check the pump for blockage.
heating element
In the event of a breakdown of the heating element for heating water or drying on the body, a dangerous situation for life and health may arise. At the same time, the self-diagnosis system notifies of a breakdown by flashing the lights on the panel. Depending on the model of the machine, the heater may be located at the front or at the rear.
How to get to the heating element, we described in previous articles. When you have found the element, do the following:
- Disconnect the wires from the heating element.
- Attach the probes of the multimeter to its contacts and check the resistance.
- In the event of a malfunction, the heater must be replaced.
- To do this, loosen the nut in the center.
- Push the bolt in and pull out the heater.
If the thermistor on the heating element is working, move it to a new element.
Engine
If the CMA motor is defective, water may enter the drum, but the wash will not start. The system will generate an error code. It is necessary to check the following elements of the engine:
- brushes;
- lamellae;
- wiring.
If there is water in the drum, first drain it through the drain filter, unplug the machine from the mains. To remove the motor for inspection:
- Loosen the screws on the rear panel around the perimeter.
- Remove the panel. The engine is under the tank.
- Disconnect its wiring.
- Now unscrew the mounting bolts and pull the motor out of the housing.
When worn, the brushes are completely replaced, the lamellas are turned on a lathe or they also change. The wiring is called by a multimeter and replaced in case of a malfunction.
Indicators do not light, the machine does not work
If the washing machine does not turn on, the indicators do not light up and do not flash, check if the power supply in the room may be turned off. Also, if when the function is turned on, the lights do not work and the lights do not light up, check:
- Network cord. It may have been damaged or crushed.
- Fork. Her case could have melted, or the contacts had come off.
- Connect another appliance to the outlet to check if it works.
Regardless of the brand of washing machine, call a specialist if you have problems with electricity. Such malfunctions should not be repaired on your own.
If you notice flashing lights when you turn on the washing machine, the first step is to find out what the fault code means. Then you will understand whether you can fix the breakdown yourself or you will have to contact the service center.
