All about warts
Often multiple and preferably sitting on the hands and under the soles of the feet, warts are small, rough growths that affect many people. It is a benign and not very contagious skin infection linked to the presence of a papillomavirus on the surface of the skin.
How do we catch them?
Since warts are viral, they are therefore contagious. There are two kinds of transmission from a wart.
The first is done directly, by skin contact with an infected person.
The second is done indirectly, via swimming pools, changing rooms, sports halls, collective showers …
They appear after several months of incubation, so it is difficult to determine the origin of a wart.
Why are we catching them?
The origin of warts can be a faulty immune system (which allows the virus to develop) or damaged skin: damaged skin allows viruses to pass more easily.
