Alerzina for allergic rhinitis. How to dose the drug?

Alerzina is used in seasonal and chronic allergic rhinitis. The active substance of the preparation is cetirizine, which inhibits the action of histamine, which directly causes allergic symptoms. Alerzina soothes unpleasant symptoms of allergy, such as sneezing, runny nose and swelling of the mucous membranes, it also prevents the development of reactions on the skin.

Alerzina – indication and dosage

Alerzina is recommended for use in seasonal and chronic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis and recurrent idiopathic urticaria..

Dosage of Alerzina:

The preparation is used orally:

  1. adults and children after the age of 12 10 mg once / d;
  2. kids. 4-6. <30 kg bw - 5 mg 1 × / d;
  3. kids. 6.-12. age> 30 kg – 10 mg 1 × / d in 2 doses division

It is recommended to reduce the dose by half in people with hepatic or renal insufficiency.

Alerzina – warnings

  1. Treatment with Alerzinanie should last longer than 10 days (unless your doctor tells you otherwise),
  2. Remember to discontinue the preparation a few days before performing skin tests,
  3. Particular caution should be exercised during the concomitant use of selected antidepressants that inhibit the calcium channel and certain antiarrhythmic drugs.
  4. Cetirizine contained in the drug may mask the symptoms associated with the ototoxicity of some drugs (e.g. gentamicin),
  5. During the treatment with the drug, you should avoid drinking alcohol and immediately stop taking medications that depress the central nervous system,
  6. The drug Alerzin can be used during pregnancy only if necessary and after obligatory consultation with a doctor,
  7. You should not take this medicine while breastfeeding.
  8. The preparation may cause drowsiness,
  9. People driving motor vehicles should exercise extreme caution.

Alerzina – interactions

It has been found that the simultaneous use of the drug Alerzina and theophylline in a dose of 400 mg a day, reduces the excretion of cetirizine from the body. It should also be remembered that the simultaneous intake of Alerzina, alcohol and drugs that depress the central nervous system may increase the depressant effect on the central nervous system.

Alerzina – side effects

While taking Alerzina, very rarely the following may occur:

  1. headaches and dizziness,
  2. somnolence,
  3. fatigue,
  4. satisfaction
  5. dry mouth
  6. throat irritation
  7. cough,
  8. gastrointestinal disorders.

Some people taking Alerzina have reported symptoms of hypersensitivity, such as: various types of skin reactions and angioedema, and rarely abnormal liver function tests. The use of the drug by children may cause them to become over-excited.
