Aleric for allergy. Composition, action, dosage, side effects

Aleric is a drug used to treat the symptoms of perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. Loratadine is the active substance of the preparation which blocks peripheral type 1 (H1) histamine receptors.

Aleric – indication and dosage

Indications for the use of Aleric:

  1. year-round and seasonal allergic rhinitis,
  2. treatment of symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria.

Dosage of Aleric:

  1. Orally Adults: 10 mg once / d,
  2. Children 2-12. years of age> 30 kg bw. 10 mg once / d, <1 kg bw 30 mg 5 × / d,
  3. In children up to 6 years of age, it is recommended to take the preparation in the form of a syrup.

In people with severe hepatic insufficiency, it is suggested that the starting dose should be reduced and the normal dose should be administered every 2 days.

Aleric – Contraindications to the use of the drug

Aleric should not be used if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of the preparation and during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Aleric – Warnings

  1. Aleric should be used with caution in people with hepatic insufficiency. Approximately 48 hours before scheduled allergic skin tests, the preparation should be discontinued.
  2. The drug contains lactose; people with hereditary disorders related to galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or malabsorption of glucose-galactose should not use the preparation.
  3. Also, drivers of motor vehicles should be more careful and check how they react to loratadine. This is especially important because its action may cause drowsiness, and thus impaired concentration and quick reaction on the road.

Aleric – Interactions

Aleric in combination with substances such as ketoconazole, erythromycin, cimetidine, increases the concentration of loratadine in the blood plasma, but it does not cause clinically significant effects. This preparation may also affect the results of allergic skin tests.

Aleric – Side effects

While taking Aleric, the following may occur:

  1. headaches and dizziness,
  2. nervousness,
  3. tiredness,
  4. sleepiness and insomnia,
  5. increase in appetite,
  6. nausea,
  7. dry mouth,
  8. gastritis,
  9. tachycardia,
  10. palpitations,
  11. alopecia
  12. rash,
  13. liver dysfunction
  14. anaphylactic reactions.
