Alcohol on a slimming diet. How to drink alcohol so as not to gain weight?Alcohol on a slimming diet. How to drink alcohol so as not to gain weight?

The issue of drinking alcohol for weight loss is the subject of many conflicting opinions, which are not always true. On a diet, you eat healthy all week, avoid what makes you fat, and at the weekend there is an opportunity to drink something stronger – going out with friends, party, evening with a glass of wine … Unfortunately, most diets forbid drinking alcohol. right? What to drink to not gain weight?

It is true that alcohol is not conducive to a nice figure. It contains many empty calories, as well as no nutritional value and contains simple sugars (accumulated in the form of fat). Hence the ban on drinking alcohol appearing in slimming diets. Of course, the exception is dry red wine, which has fewer calories than colored drinks … Unfortunately, most of us will more willingly reach for this type of liquor or beer.

It’s not just about calories

It turns out that calories are not the only disadvantage of alcohol. Its consumption interferes with the proper metabolism, because the body perceives this substance as toxins. Then the liver deals with the removal of it in the first place, therefore it participates in the digestive process in a less efficient way, and for this reason, what we eat during a drunken party will be deposited in the form of fat.

Too much appetite

What’s more, drinks with percentages effectively increase appetite – especially for what is unhealthy. Especially after drinking beer, most of us feel like a kebab, pizza, fries … and this is a quick way to gain weight. Fast-food and other meals eaten during parties (e.g. chips) are simple carbohydrates and saturated fats that will be difficult to burn…

So how to reconcile diet with alcohol so as not to gain weight? Here are some simple tricks:

  1. Remember moderation. Too much is unhealthy, especially when it comes to alcohol. The less you drink, the better it is for your body. Not only will you avoid a hangover, but also alcoholic, fatty and caloric “cravings” such as casserole with cheese …
  2. Pay attention to the type of alcohol. According to the well-known rule: the lighter the color of the drink, the less calories. So choose pure spirits, champagne and white wine, or dry red, which also has many antioxidants. One of the most fattening options is the popular beer and colorful drinks, so loved by women. The most diet drink is a Bloody Mary.
  3. Try the “fit” options. Spritzer – wine mixed with sparkling water in one-to-one proportions, with additions of ice cubes, lime, lemon, frozen fruit, fresh herbs. It’s refreshing and doesn’t have many calories. The second option is a mocktail, i.e. a non-alcoholic drink, e.g. Virgin Mojito. You will prepare it with sparkling water, lime, crushed ice, mint and cane sugar.
  4. Love the wine. Reach for alcohol as rarely as possible, and when you intend to – bet on at least caloric and moderately healthy, i.e. persistent red wine.
