  • Type: Albatrellus caeruleoporus (Sinepore albatrellus)

The basidiomas of this fungus are annuals, single or grouped, with a stalk in the center.

The caps of Albatrellus sinepore are rounded. In diameter, it reaches 6 cm. Hats can be either single or multiple. In the latter case, the leg has a branched shape. You can recognize this mushroom by the gray or bluish tint of the cap at a young age. Over time, they either turn pale and become pale gray with a brown tint or red-orange. As a result of drying, the non-zonal cap becomes very rough, in places with small scales. The color of the edge does not differ from the entire surface of the cap. They are found in nature both rounded and pointed, and below are fertile.

Fabric thickness up to 1 cm. With a lack of moisture, it quickly hardens. Color range from cream to brown. The length of the tubules is 3 mm (no more), during drought they acquire an expressive red-orange hue.

Thanks to the surface of the hymenophore, which has gray-blue and blue hues, this mushroom got its name – “blue-pore”. When dried, I acquire a dark gray or bright orange reddish color. The pores are mostly angular, their thin edges are jagged, the density of placement is 2-3 per 1 mm.

It has a monomitic hyphal system. The tissues of generative hyphae have thin walls, simple septa, which are highly branched and even swollen (3,5 to 15 µm in diameter). Tubule hyphae are similar, 2,7 to 7 µm in diameter.

The basidia are bulb-shaped. They are 4-spored, with a simple septum at the base.

Spores vary in shape: ellipsoid, spherical, smooth, hyaline. They have thickened walls and are non-amyloid.

You can find them in places with good moisture, growing on the soil surface.

Geographical location of Albatrellus sinepore in the Far East (Japan) and North America.

The mushroom is conditionally edible, however, its edibility has not been fully studied.
