Aircraft Code of Conduct: Etiquette and Safety

😉 Greetings to regular and new readers of the site! Gentlemen, check yourself, do you know the rules of conduct on the plane?

Compliance with the rules of conduct on the plane is very important. Airplane etiquette is more needed than on the ground. People, being in a confined space, must support each other, but this is not always possible. Flying is stressful.

Someone has a fear, someone is nervous due to the fact that they cannot smoke for several hours. Many airlines even prohibit the use of e-cigarettes on board.

And yet, during the flight, you need to try to be as polite as possible to others. Knowing the simple rules of behavior on the plane, you will avoid awkward situations and all your flights will be comfortable!

How to behave on an airplane

The rules of conduct on the plane are the same for passengers all over the world. They can be divided into two types:

  1. Safety regulations
  2. Passenger etiquette based on simple life principles that ensure conflict-free relationships with other people. These are the rules:

Carryon

If you have carry-on luggage, store it in the upper compartment above your seat. It is recommended to put your clothes on top of your carry-on baggage and not next to it. Perhaps this place will need to be taken by your neighbor in the chair.

Phone

Remember that your mobile phone, tablet or laptop must be switched off during takeoff and landing. Signals received and sent by your devices can interfere with aircraft navigation.

Airplane seat

Do not recline the back of the chair completely. Tell your neighbors that you want to recline the back of your chair. Leaning back abruptly without warning can ruin, for example, a neighbor’s laptop or knock over his drink.

When getting up, do not grab the back of the chair in front of you. You can wake up a person sleeping there who has been trying to fall asleep for a long time in order to easily reschedule the flight. Do not forget that during takeoff and landing, as well as during meals, the back of the chair must be in an upright position.

Watch yourself. Sometimes a person starts tapping his foot on the chair in front. It annoys anyone.

Neighbors

  • the neighbors in the chair should always be welcomed, but you should not insist on continuing communication if the person is clearly not interested in this;
  • often there are free seats in the cabin. You can change to an empty seat when the boarding has already ended, after which you can make sure whether this chair is really empty;
  • if you are flying alone and you are asked to switch places. For example, to join family or friends, always remember that you too may someday make such a request;
  • do not bother fellow travelers with conversation;
  • if you are faced with an annoying neighbor – do not be rude. You can open a book or take headphones out of your bag. This will help avoid unpleasant conversation;
  • do not talk about a plane crash in flight. The cabin may contain people suffering from aerophobia. Talking about such topics can provoke an attack of panic and even tantrums.

  • for long-distance flights, it is advisable to purchase a collar pillow, this will help you to relax comfortably and you will not find yourself sleeping on your neighbor’s shoulder;
  • remember the rules of hygiene. Nobody will like the unpleasant smell of fellow travelers. Therefore, it is worth taking a shower before going to the airport;
  • Do not use harsh perfumes, deodorants, hairsprays or other aromatic substances during the flight. The fresh smell of cleanliness is the best option.

Children

If you are with children, remember that flying is not the best time for new parenting techniques. It is necessary to explain to the child in advance how to behave on the plane. Loud baby crying is the most annoying factor in flight. Try to distract your child with a favorite toy, book, or cartoon.

Be polite

Be courteous to the flight attendant. Be clear about your requests and be polite even when making a valid claim. Follow the safety measures: “do not get up”, “fasten your seat belts”.

The flight attendant will help you solve problems in flight, including those related to your well-being and unpleasant fellow travelers.

An airplane toilet is not a boudoir or changing room. Be quick and don’t leave dirt behind.

About life jackets

There are times when passengers steal life jackets placed under the seat. Unfortunately, the availability of life jackets is not checked before each flight. Therefore, before the flight, check the presence of a life jacket yourself, in case of its absence, inform the flight attendant about it.

Drink water!

The air in the aircraft cabin is dry. This is bad for the body, especially for the skin. Try to drink more water during the flight. If you need to calm down and relax, mint tea can help. Remember that the effects of alcohol increase at altitude. Know when to stop.
