British Oriana Pepper went to Belgium in 2021 to obtain aviation qualifications. During my stay in Antwerp she was bitten by a mosquito in the forehead and around the right eye. After she began to swell, she was hospitalized.
She died after a mosquito bite
The Daily Mail adds that the woman and her partner, James Hall, who had been in Antwerp since late May 2021, were repeatedly bitten by mosquitoes, but with no response.

On July 7, Oriana Pepper’s body reacted violently. She was hospitalized, doctors gave her antibiotics and sent her home. Two days later, she was delirious, had difficulty speaking, and fainted. Partner brought her to the emergency department. After three days, the woman died in the hospital. The BBC reports that doctors have ruled that the cause of death was septic blockages in the brain caused by a bacterial infection of staphylococcus aureus and insect bite.

He added that it was an “unfortunate tragedy for a young woman who had a great career ahead of her.”

The father of the deceased 21-year-old also took the floor. He confessed that his daughter loved what she did and loved spending time with her father and brother.
She met someone she loved, trained to be a commercial pilot, and made her dreams come true

The mother of the deceased added that they have established a small scholarship with the British Women’s Pilot Association to encourage women to take up a job as a pilot.
The effects of mosquito bites
Especially in summer, mosquito bites are not uncommon, but the consequences can be significant. The most common local swelling and redness appear at the bite site, which disappears on its own after a few days. Occasionally, systemic symptoms may occur – mainly in children. In people who are allergic, mosquito saliva can cause an allergic reaction.
