How many people vaccinated in Poland became infected and died from COVID-19?
The US CDC reported that only 0,01 percent. people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 have contracted the coronavirus. The research for the report included more than 100 million American adults who were vaccinated against COVID-19 by April 2021.
As for the situation in Poland, «Wyborcza» obtained the latest data from the Ministry of Health. These are the percentages for mRNA preparations (Pfizer and Moderna). According to MZ, AstraZeneka has not yet reported a death as a result of COVID-19 infection.
Regarding coronavirus infection among those vaccinated with the first dose, it was:
- 0,45 percent in the case of Moderna (i.e. 5 thousand. 698 per 1 million 266 thousand. 300 people)
- 0,75 percent for Pfizer (i.e. 62 thousand 976 out of 7 million 971 thousand 600 people)
After the second dose, there were fewer infections:
- 0,12 percent in the case of Moderna (i.e. 388 out of 323 thousand. 100 people)
- 0,32 percent for Pfizer (i.e. 12 thousand 13 out of 3 million 754 thousand people)
Some of the vaccinated people died as a result of coronavirus infection. The data is as follows:
- After the first dose of the Moderny vaccine, 0,012 percent. without comorbidities (152 people), 0,021% with comorbidities (266). After the second dose, it’s 0,002 percent. no disease (6) and 0,011 percent. with comorbidities (36)
- After the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, 0,015 percent. without comorbidities (1196), 0,054% with comorbidities (4 305). After the second dose, it’s 0,007 percent. no disease (263) and 0,026 with comorbidities (976)
However, these data do not mean that protection from the Pfizer vaccine is the weakest. It is simply about the number of vaccinations performed, and in the case of Pfizer, the largest number was in Poland. The time between the administration of the vaccine and infection or death is also important. Each of the COVID-19 preparations takes a certain number of days to start protecting the vaccinated person.
