Adult baby face cream

Each of us at one time used baby cream. What will happen if you do it now? How will an adult’s skin react to a cream for children? We have tried to answer these questions and also put together a small collection of facial products that are suitable for users of all ages.

Features of the composition and action of creams for children

The features, composition and texture of creams for children are somewhat different from the products that are created for adult skin.

The fact is that children’s skin is in the formation stage.

  1. The epidermal barrier is imperfect and the skin is more permeable, so dryness and irritation can develop.

  2. Skin absorbs moisture more easily, but loses it just as easily.

  3. The sebaceous glands in a child function very poorly.

In most cases, creams labeled “children’s” are thicker and oilier than creams for adults. The following can be used as a basis:

  • lanoline;

  • bees and vegetable waxes;

  • glycerin and oils (coconut, shea, avocado, soy, olive).

Of course, all these substances can be present in the cream for adults, but in its formula the accents will be placed somewhat differently.

The baby’s skin needs enhanced protection and hydration.

Since the skin of a child only by the age of 6 approaches the skin of an adult and often has increased sensitivity and is easily irritated, soothing ingredients (calendula, chamomile extracts, panthenol, allantoin, niacinamide) are often found in children’s creams, as well as fat-soluble vitamin E.

The main advantages of the cream from the children’s line

In babies, the skin barrier is not yet fully developed, that is, the skin is extremely vulnerable, which means that the cream must meet certain requirements.

  1. Protect – this function is performed by lipid components that can mimic the skin barrier and protect the baby’s skin.

  2. Be as safe as possible. Children’s creams undergo serious testing, and on the packaging you can read: “hypoallergenic” or “tested under pediatric and dermatological control.” The formulas are generally alcohol and fragrance free.

  3. Moisturize. The skin of a child, due to its defenselessness, quickly loses water, so baby creams contain both moisturizing ingredients and film-forming agents (emollients) that can retain moisture.

Can adults use baby face cream?

It seems that baby creams have everything you need for skin care. Why shouldn’t adults use it too? However, La Roche-Posay medical expert Alexander Prokofiev believes that using the cream for children on an ongoing basis is not the best option.

Can baby cream be harmful to adult skin?

It is believed that since the safety control of children’s creams is higher, they are much more effective than cosmetics for adults. Does this mean that children’s cream can be used by an adult? No, it doesn’t mean: regular use of a cream for babies can give not a positive, but a negative effect. Why can baby cream be harmful to adult skin? Let’s ask an expert.

What benefits can children’s cream bring to adult skin?

Still, sometimes an adult can use baby cream, but in certain cases:

  • when you need to restore the protective barrier of the skin;

  • for frost protection

  • with severe dryness and peeling due to low temperatures or dry air.

However, there are special formulas that are recommended for adults, children, and infants. Typically, such products have a lipid-restoring, softening and soothing effect and are intended for sensitive, dry and very dry skin, including those with atopic phenomena.

Also, often children’s sunscreens are positioned as products for the whole family.
