Adapalene – action
Adapalene is a derivative of vitamin A, which means it belongs to the group of third generation retinoids. It has a strong anti-inflammatory effect. It has anti-seborrheic and antibacterial properties. Restores proper differentiation of epidermal cells. As a result, it does not keratinize the mouth of the hair follicle, and thus protects against: blackheads, micro blackheads and inflammatory skin lesions. It modifies the metabolism of keratinocytes, intensifying their proliferation, and therefore has a keratolytic effect. Its task is to inhibit inflammatory processes.
Adapalene – application
The drug Adapalen is intended for the treatment of mild and moderate acne vulgaris, as well as acne and maculopapular acne. It can be used in combination therapy for other forms of acne (Differin + topical or Differin + oral antibiotic). Adapalene is also used as monotherapy.
Adapalene – dosage
Adapalen should be applied in a small amount to the entire surface of the face, except around the eyes and nasolabial folds. Beforehand, the surface should be properly prepared for the application of the cream. You should thoroughly wash your face and dry it, and then, after about 10-15 minutes, apply a small layer of Adapalene once a day to the affected skin. The drug should be used for a minimum of several weeks to observe the effects of treatment. The patient should be under the care of a dermatologist to control the effects of Adapalen. During the treatment, you should not be exposed to UV rays, and if necessary, use filters and blockers.
Adapalene – contraindications
If the patient is allergic to any of the ingredients of Adapalene or is hypersensitive, stop using it. It should also not be used in inflammatory skin conditions, on damaged skin. During the treatment, you should stop using other, strongly exfoliating, drying or irritating preparations. The preparation and mucosa should also be avoided in contact with the eyes. Adapalene should also be avoided by pregnant women and those planning to become pregnant. During the treatment period, the patient should also avoid contact with UV rays and excessive exposure to the sun.
Adapalene – side effects
Adapalene, like any drug, can cause side effects. Often after using the preparation, skin dryness, irritation, burning or itching may occur. Less often you can meet contact reactions of dermatitis and eczema with irritation and peeling of the skin.
Adapalene and other drugs
When taking Adapalen, you should refrain from using any other acne medications during this time. If the doctor has recommended using them, they should be used in the morning and Adapalen in the evening to keep the time interval. When using Adapalene, do not use cosmetics recommended for acne skin care, agents with exfoliating, drying and irritating properties.
