An acute inflammatory infiltrate is a direct tissue reaction to the intrusion of microorganisms.

Blood vessels dilate, and serous exudate accumulates in the tissue spaces, causing tissue swelling. The skin in this area is most often red and painful. The inflammatory infiltrate may be sucked in or become suppurated.

Treatment

It consists in applying warming compresses under the oilcloth and in immobilizing the diseased part of the body. The doctor should decide whether or not to use sulfonamides or antibiotics.
